Rainbow Six pro player banned live on stream for ‘toxic behavior’

Professional Rainbow Six Pro League player Jack ‘Doki’ Robertson was banned live on stream, due to alleged ‘toxic’ behavior on Tuesday, October 1.

The Scot, who plays for Ukrainian-based esports organization Natus Vincere, had been streaming Rainbow Six Siege when, midway through a game, a popup appeared saying “Removed from match. You have been permanently suspended due to toxic behavior”.

Naturally, Doki was baffled, clearly showing his dismay, saying “What?! Permanently banned for toxic behavior?”

Doki has become popular in the Rainbow Six community for his exuberant personality and entertaining streams, where he’ll often run five-man stacks with other popular players and streamers such as Niclas ‘Pengu’ Mouritzen, who he was playing with at the time.

After what seemed to be a tough day of Doki grinding out Ranked matches, this was really the icing on the cake for the 19-year-old, who is yet to find out whether his ban will be revoked.

In a follow-up tweet, Doki simply said: “Weird way to end a stream… will keep you updated on twitter as soon as i have a response back or at least a “why”. But confused, hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.”

He was met with overwhelming support in response to the tweet, with fellow pro players and fans alike reaching out to say that this is not fair and needs to be fixed.

This isn’t the first time professional Rainbow Six players have faced bans in-game: Stéphane ‘Shaiiko’ Lebleu was banned in October 2017 for using macros against PENTA Sports, only being unbanned in April 2019.

Meanwhile, popular North American players Alexander ‘Skys’ Magor and Gabriel ‘LaXInG’ Mirelez, now both of Team Reciprocity, faced previous Pro League bans in 2017 due to “unacceptable behavior”, but were reinstated shortly after and have since had thriving careers.

Hopefully Ubisoft and Doki will get to the bottom of this issue before the next round of Pro League matches, with Na’vi looking very close to booking a spot at the Pro League Season 10 finals in Japan – home to some of the quirkier members of the Rainbow Six community.

If Doki is unable to play in their next round of matches, we may just see his team’s chance of Pro League glory pass him by.
