Pokemon YouTuber Lee ‘Leonhart’ Steinfeld went viral online when he caught his priceless reaction to pulling the rarest card from the Sun & Moon Unbroken Bonds expansion set on camera – all whilst trying to stay quiet in a public library.

Collecting Pokemon cards is an expensive business, as just one pack can retail for up to $10, depending on the set. That’s just for ones being sold at stores – you’re looking at $100+ a pack for older boosters that aren’t being printed anymore.

Though, luckily for Leonhart, the Sun & Moon Unbroken Bonds expansion is still being sold, and he managed to pull the rarest card from the whole set – the Reshiram & Charizard GX hyper rare rainbow holo. His reaction was so magnificent, he ended up going viral for it.

Pulling the rarest Pokemon card

When you usually open up booster packs, you’re probably at home or in your car after buying them from the store, at the very least. Not this YouTuber, though – he opted for a public library, which is probably the most difficult place to celebrate getting an epic pull since you have to stay as quiet as a mouse.

Leonhart had already tried to open 4,000 of them in the past and still had no luck finding the coveted card, but decided to tempt fate with another few just in case, because you never know, right? After having no luck with a few packs, he grabbed one which, very fittingly, had Reshiram and Charizard artwork on the cover and ripped it open…

After realizing he’d finally managed to score the prize card, his eyes widened in shock and his hands shook violently, dropping the rest of the pulls from the pack onto the table. “WE DID IT! WE DID IT!” he whispered, as quietly yet as powerful as he could, before getting up out of his seat and celebrating.

The clip went viral on Reddit on April 17, garnering over 13,300 upvotes, and 450 comments where people were amazed at how quiet he managed to stay whilst in a public library.

Leonhart was right to be so ecstatic at the pull, since the Reshiram & Charizard rainbow holo can go for upwards of $200+ on eBay at times, and even more if it gets a good score from the PSA or BGS grading companies.

He shipped the prize off to the latter to be graded, and they sent it back with a score of nine – not quite the 10 he craved, but still a great result regardless. The centering of the card was slightly off, which reflected in the final number.

Trading card collectors have a lot to be excited for in 2020, as Sword & Shield’s first expansion Rebel Clash releases on May 1 and adds over 190 cards – including 15 V and seven new VMAX evolutions.

Single Booster packs are expected to retail for around $3.99 each on The Pokemon Center, and Elite Trainer Boxes for around $49.99-$59.99.
