More Pokemon Sword and Shield news is imminent with a press conference and Pokemon Direct both being held within the next couple of weeks.

Whether the initial press conference will hold host to any more Pokemon Sword and Shield information remains to be seen, but The Pokemon Company tell us they have “some exciting updates to share”. The presser will take place May 28, 6pm PDT (9pm EDT and May 29, 2am BST).
While the contents of the press event aren’t clear, we do know that the Pokemon Direct will definitely reveal more Pokemon Sword and Shield news. The Pokemon Direct announcement comes with Pokemon Sword and Shield logos and even a hashtag directly referring to the game.
Galar region information
Consequently, it will be interesting to see if both provide more information or whether it will just be the Pokemon Direct. Regarding the Pokemon Direct, they say: “We’ve been hard at work researching this new region,” meaning we are probably getting more information about the Galar region or potentially something more.
That ‘more’ could be in the form of the much rumored additional region. It has been no secret that the Kalos region from Pokemon X and Y could be involved in the Pokemon 2019 game.
Kalos caves
There are several theories as to why Kalos will be part of the game. The first two are fairly obvious – geographically it makes sense. It’s pretty clear Galar is based on Great Britain and Kalos is based on France, therefore travel between the two isn’t far-fetched.

Furthermore, a cave with a train track was seen in the initial Pokemon Sword and Shield trailer. Long time Pokemon fans will have recognised the similarity with that and the cave from Pokemon X and Y.
War between the regions
Pokemon X and Y’s story is based on a war with an unknown region. It isn’t a reach to think that this war could have been against Great Britain, as this once again makes sense geographically and aligns with history.
Unavailable train station
We’re getting a little bit deeper now which perhaps only Pokemon enthusiasts will be aware of. There is a train station in Couriway Town (Kalos) which during the game is unavailable to use.
Pokemon X and Y unfinished
Reddit user Qaboi, notes the following: “Pokemon X and Y was slightly unfinished. They are the only main games in the series to never get a remake/sequel. There are few areas in the game that are inaccessible and there are some items that haven’t seen any use.“
The caves, the train station and geography either mean something or there are a lot of coincidences. It looks a good bet that the story behind Pokemon Sword and Shield has been planned years in advance.
