Pokemon Scarlet & Violet breathed new life into the franchise, bringing in tons of new Pokemon, battles, features, and events. Naturally, players are still diving into the game to explore all these additions, with the new Mass Outbreaks being one of them.

As many are aware, Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are nothing new. The feature has been present in the game for many months. However, that doesn’t mean it’s slowing down, with fresh events coming regularly.

So, here’s everything you need to know about Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, including what they are, the current event, and what’s coming soon.

What are Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Essentially, Mass Outbreak events are a time when many of the same species or Pokemon appear in one key location.

They’re a great way to fill your Pokedex and potentially grab a few Shinies or certain Pokemon with specific Marks.

What’s the current Mass Outbreak event?

Currently, there are no Mass Outbreaks events in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

The Challenge Powerhouse Pokemon event featuring Dragonite was the final one out of four seasonal challenges that included plenty of Pokemon such as Pikachu, Gimmighoul, Riolu, Tatsugiri, and more.

The Pokemon Company hasn’t released any information about upcoming Mass Outbreak events for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

How to join Mass Outbreak events

Players looking to participate in the Mass Outbreaks events in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet need to follow some simple steps first:

  1. Update Pokemon Scarlet & Violet to the latest version.
  2. Make sure your console is connected to the Internet.
  3. Open the game and access the main menu using the X button.
  4. With the menu opened, press L to connect the game to Internet.
  5. Go to the Poke Portal.
  6. Select Mystery Gift.
  7. Tap on Check Poke Portal News.
  8. Now you’ll be able to see all the details about the event and the featured Pokemon will start to appear.

You don’t need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to download the latest Poke Portal news.

Below are all the previous Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Mass Outbreak events. Just in case they happen again, it’s always worth knowing what came before.

Challenge Powerhouse Pokemon

  • Start & end date: August 23, 2024 – September 1, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Larvitar, Bagon, Beldum, Goomy, and Hisuian Sliggoo
  • Key details: While Dragonite takes on 7-star Tera Raids, Larvitar and Bagon can be found in Paldea, Goomy and Hisuian Sliggoo in Kitakami, and Beldum inside the Terrarium of the Blueberry Academy. The five of them will have increased Shiny spawn rates, so you might find them during your quest.

Celebrate the 2024 Pokemon World Championships

  • Start & end date: August 8, 2024 – August 22, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Wattrel, Riolu, and Comfey
  • Key details: Wattrel can be found in Paldea, while Riolu will spawn more often in Kitakami, with Comfey doing the same inside the Terarium of the Blueberry Academy. The three of them will have increased Shiny spawn rates, so you might find them during your quest.

Order Up Some Fun

  • Start & end date: July 26, 2024 – July 25, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Tatsugiri
  • Key details: You can catch Curly Form Tatsugiri in Paldea, Droopy Form Tatsugiri in Kitikami, and Stretchy Form Tatsugiri in Blueberry Academy. During the event, all of these Pokemon have an increased chance of being Shiny.

Pikachu and Friends

  • Start & end date: July 12, 2024 – July 25, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Pichu, Pikachu, Mimikyu, Raichu, and Alolan Raichu
  • Key details: Pichu will spawn in Paldea, Pikachu, and Mimikyu will appear in Kitikami, and Raichu and Alolan Raichu will spawn in the Terarium. All of these Pokemon have an increased chance of being Shiny.

Kindly Pokemon

  • Start & end date: June 7, 2024 – June 9, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Finizen, Lotad, and Horsea
  • Key details:  Finizen will spawn in Paldea, Lotad will appear in Kitakami, and Horsea will spawn in the Terarium. There are no increased Shiny odds for the aforementioned Pokemon during this event, but there is an increased chance of encountering Pokemon with the Kindly Mark.

Golden Pokemon

  • Start & end date: April 26, 2024 – May 6, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Magikarp, Varoom, Shinx and Rellor
  • Key details:  Magikarp and Varoom will spawn in Paldea, Spinx will appear in Kitakami, and Rellor will spawn in the Terarium. There are increased Shiny odds for the aforementioned Pokemon during this event.

Baby Pokemon

  • Start & end date: March 29, 2024 – March 31, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Pichu, Happiny, Munchlax, Riolu, Elekid, Magby
  • Key details: Baby Pokemon appeared in Mass Outbreaks through Paldea, Kitakami, and the Terarium. All of the featured creatures had a higher chance of having the Vigor Mark.

Poke Ball-like Pokemon

  • Start & end date: February 23, 2024 – February 27, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Pokemon featured: Voltorb, Foongus, and Hisuian Voltorb (most likely).
  • Key details: Poke Ball-like Pokemon appeared in Mass Outbreaks around the map, and a certain mystery Pokemon that can’t normally appear in Paldea may show up as well. This mystery Pokemon may appear around the Mass Outbreaks for Voltorb and Foongus.

Exclusive Outbreaks

  • Start & end date: January 26, 2024 – January 28, 2024
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Key details: Stunky & Skrelp will be more likely to get Uncommon Marks in Pokemon Scarlet and Rare Marks in Pokemon Violet and Gulpin & Clauncher more likely to get Rare Marks in Pokemon Scarlet and Uncommon Marks in Pokemon Violet

Year of the Dragon Outbreaks

  • Start & end date: December 25th – January 3rd 2023
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium.
  • Key details: Dratini, Jangmo-o, and Duraludon all have an increased chance of possessing the Joyful Mark.

Delibird Outbreaks

  • Start & end date: December 22, 2023 – December 24, 2023.
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium.
  • Key details: Delibird has an increased chance of being shiny.

Festive Outbreaks

  • Start & end date: December 8, 2023 – December 21, 2023
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami, Terarium
  • Key details: Increased Shiny Rates, and different Pokemon spawn in different regions: Flabebe in Paldea, Litwick in Kitakami, and Milcery in the Terarium.

Eevee Everywhere

  • Start & end date: November 17, 2023 – November 20, 2023.
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami.
  • Key details: Eevees have a higher chance of having the Jittery Mark, Intense Mark, Intellectual Mark, or Flustered Mark in Paldea or the Rowdy Mark, Excited Mark, Calmness Mark, or Unsure Mark in Kitakami.

Ghost-type Outbreak

  • Start & end date: October 27, 2023 – October 3, 2023.
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami.
  • Key details: Pokemon have a higher chance of having the Crafty Mark.

Moon-Viewing Party

  • Start & end date: September 29, 2023 – October 1, 2023.
  • Location: Paldea, Kitakami.
  • Key details: Clefairy’s have a higher chance of having the Upbeat Mark.
