Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How to beat 5-star Blissey Tera Raid guide

blissey tera raid guide

Blissey is taking over Pokemon Scarlet & Violet 5-star Tera Raids this weekend in conjunction with Serperior, and here is everything you need to know about the Happiness Pokemon to take it down.

Tera Raids are the most challenging battles for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trainers outside of special events. They also offer powerful creatures, plus a variety of rewards that can be used to level up, hyper train, and Shiny hunt.

One of the most popular Tera Raids features Blissey, who’s constantly coming back to the game to accompany the Titans who are taking over 7-star Tera Raids. However, Blissey has a special appeal, and it’s the fact that it appears with different Tera Types.

If you are looking forward to getting a Blissey while it accompanies Serperior, here’s all you need to know.

When will Blissey appear in Tera Raids?

Blissey will be featured in 5-star Tera Raids from Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 5:00 PM PDT until Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 4:59 PM PDT, in conjunction with the second wave of Serperior 7-star Tera Raids.

Unlike Serperior, Blissey can appear with different Tera Types, which means you have to build your team with Pokemon that can cover most types to avoid having too many weaknesses.

Players looking to fight Blissey should notice several white swirl raid dens when they open their maps. These are all the Blissey Tera Raids available, you just need to pick one and go for it.

Blissey moves

These are the moves Blissey can use during its time as a 5-star Tera Raid boss:

  • Heal Pulse (Psychic)
  • Last Resort (Normal)
  • Soft-Boiled (Normal)
  • Seismic Toss (Fighting)

As a pure Normal-type Pokemon, Blissey is immune to Ghosts and only weak to Fighting-type attacks. However, things will change once it Terastallizes, as it can appear with any Tera Type.

More so, Blissey has access not only to Normal-type moves but also Psychic and Fighting, which makes it Super Effective against seven types including Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, Steel, Fighting, and Poison.

Best Blissey Tera Raid counters

Blissey’s stats might indicate it won’t be able to deal much damage, but it doesn’t mean it’s gonna be an easy fight. The best approach to take Blissey out is to use a powerful physical attacker with decent bulk to avoid wasting time fainting.

Here are some of the best counters you can use to fight Blissey in 5-star Tera Raids:

Iron Hands

Ignore everything you’ve learned about type matchups for this raid event. Instead, all you need to defeat Blissey is a fully trained Iron Hands.

If you’ve been raiding for a while, you likely already have a Raid-ready Iron Hands. But if not, you need to build one exactly as shown below and follow these simple steps.

Start the battle by using Electric Terrain to activate the ability Quark Drive and boost Iron Hand’s most proficient stat (Attack). Then push the Attack stat further with Belly Drum and finish off by spamming Close Combat or Wild Charge (pick the one that deals super effective damage).

If neither Close Combat nor Wild Charge deals any heavy damage, swap them for another Iron Hands move like Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Earthquake, etc.

Ursaluna

The mighty Ursaluna can counter five possible Blissey Tera Types: Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel.

Having the Flame Orb as a held item will inflict the Burn status on Ursaluna. However, that’s not bad at all due to its Ability Guts, which increases a Pokemon’s Attack if it has a status condition. Plus, the move Facade deals double damage if the user is burned, poisoned, or paralyzed.

Similar to Iron Hands, you must use Belly Drum to increase Ursaluna’s Attack stat even more. Then, use Drain Punch to deal damage, charge your Tera Orb, and also recover some of the HP taken by Belly Drum.

Finally, Terastallize and use Headlong Rush to deal massive damage boosted by STAB.

Annihilape

Annihilape’s dual Fighting/Ghost type combination allows it to deal super effective damage to seven types: Normal, Ice, Psychic, Rock, Ghost, Dark, and Steel. Plus, it’s immune to Normal and Fighting attacks.

Kick the encounter off by using Screech a few times to lower Blissey’s Defense stat. Then, use Bulk Up to boost Annihilape’s Attack and Defense.

Finally, depending on your opponent’s Tera Type, hit it with Close Combat or Rage Fist.

Blissey Tera Raid rewards

If this raid event follows the trend as featured raids in the past, featured Blissey raids won’t drop Herba Mystica.

However, the battles are still well-worth the minimal effort to take on as they reward players with a huge number of Tera Shards and Exp Candy. They won’t drop any other items from their normal loot pool, so expect to get a ton of the following:

  • Exp Candy L
  • Exp Candy XL
  • Tera Shards (Random & Based on Raid Tera Type)
  • Rare Candy
