[jwplayer w6N6N6rI]A Pokemon fan went viral after they unveiled their genius idea for the Gen VII monster, Mimikyu. The creative player made the perfect evolutions for the Ghost/Fairy-type.
Mimikyu was first introduced in the Nintendo 3DS titles Sun & Moon in 2016. The shy Alolan Pokemon hides under a cloth sheet and pretends to be a Pikachu. The quirky Ghost-type has quickly become a fan favorite.
One player had a brilliant idea of how Game Freak could expand the ‘mon in the future. The fan came up with an evolution pathway for the creature that would tie into its lore.
Pokemon player’s Mimikyu evolution idea
Not many get to see what Mimikyu looks like under its sheet. For instance, according to its Pokedex entry, “there was a scientist who peeked under Mimikyu’s old rag in the name of research. The scientist died of a mysterious disease.”
We have, however, gotten a tiny glimpse of its shadowy-looking form in the anime. Using what we know, ‘LividASF‘ came up with a brilliant idea for how the Ghost/Fairy-type could evolve in the future.
The player explained that Mimikyu could either evolve into its true ghost form with max happiness, or change its shape under its rag to look like a Raichu using a Thunder Stone.

LividASF also provided more details into how the evolution would work, stating, “At max happiness, Mimikyu would evolve into a Pokémon that was more based around itself instead of Pikachu. Mimikyu would still have its Pikachu disguise, but its design would be less concerned on conveying himself as Pikachu.”
The user then explained that if it was evolved using a Thunderstone, it would keep mimicking Pikachu’s evolved self instead. “Meanwhile, if Mimikyu evolves through either leveling or a thunderstone (trying to level it up before its happiness maxes out might be difficult) it will try to mimic Pikachu even further by turning its disguise into Raichu.”
The player’s concept works really well because it also ties into the creature’s personality. While some monsters never get an evolution, this is proof that the beloved character has a lot of potential for a second form.
Pokemon’s latest release, Sword & Shield, made its debut in 2019. The Nintendo Switch title brought the franchise into its eighth generation. Mimikyu fans are in luck, as the ‘mon can be captured in the Galar region as well.
