A Pokemon fan and content creator discovered a genius controller hack to Shiny hunt hands-free, or even hunt in two games at once.

Shiny hunting is one of the Pokemon community’s favorite pastimes thanks to the thrills of stumbling upon a rare monster.

While the idea of Shiny hunting can be exciting, it can also be a fairly boring and monotonous endeavor — as hunting for a specific Pokemon can involve running back in forth in the same spot for hours.

However, one savvy trainer may have just optimized hands-free Shiny hunting with an ingenious controller hack that could even let them hunt in two games at once.

The trainer in question is Pokemon content creator PaPaSea, who posted a video that quickly went viral on X. The post’s caption said, “I have made the greatest advancement in Shiny hunting history all thanks to Dance Dance Revolution.”

In the video, the streamer showed footage of themselves actively Shiny hunting in Pokemon Emerald while filming without a game controller in their hand. They panned down to reveal they were controlling the game via a DDR pad that had each button mapped out perfectly.

To showcase just how smooth the operation was, they even navigated through the in-game menus by pressing buttons with their feet.

At the end of the video, the content creator said, “And this way, chat, I can hold my controller and play on the Switch…and double hunt without having to hold two controllers, which is just amazing.”

With the Switch’s handheld mode, PaPaSea could effectively Shiny hunt in Emerald with their feet, while also hunting in either Gen 8 or 9 through the Switch.

Fans in the replies loved the streamer’s ingenuity. “That’s fun. It’s a great way to exercise while Shiny hunting cause in the normal way you just sit on the chair and barely move around…,” said one trainer.

Others expressed surprise at the lengths some players were willing to go for the hunt. “Shiny hunters are a different breed,” said another fan. “Ya’ll so funny and creative.”

Hopefully, this creative trainer will have some good luck in their future DDR Shiny hunting endeavors.
