The latest Pokemon Go event – Go Big – is now live, introducing some massive changes to the game in the form of the exciting new Max Battles and gigantic Dynamax Pokemon.
Dynamax was the main gimmick of Sword and Shield, allowing Pokemon to grow to massive sizes and even letting them use these forms to unlock more powerful moves. Well luckily for excited fans, Dynamax is now ready to join the mobile game, with the new Max Out season focusing on this Galar mechanic.
To introduce this to the game, Pokemon Go has shared the appropriately named Go Big, which adds the first Dynamax Pokemon and Max Battles — so here’s everything to know about the game’s latest event.
Start date, end date & times
As shared by the official Pokemon Go blog, the Go Big event kicked off on Tuesday, September 10, at 10 am, just as the Go All Out event ended — and will run until Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8 pm local time.
All Dynamax debuts in Go Big event
Go Big adds the first set of Dynamax Pokemon for trainers to catch, all of which are available through one-star Max Battles and have Shiny variants:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Squirtle
- Skwovet
- Wooloo
To the Max! Special Research & rewards
The event also introduces a new Special Research called To The Max! This involves players participating in Max Battles to earn Max Particles, finding Power Spots, a new avatar item (which appears to be a Dynamax Band), and more.

Max Out will be available for free to all users, so you’ll simply need to play before the season ends on December 3, 2024, at 9:59 am local time to unlock it. The steps and rewards for the To The Max! Special Research are as follows:

Field Research task encounters & event bonuses explained
The following bonuses will be active during Go Big:
- 2× XP for winning a Max Battle
- 2× XP for spinning PokéStops
Additionally, themed Field Research tasks will also be available during the event’s runtime, and completing these gives you the chance to encounter the following Pokemon:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Squirtle
- Skwovet
- Wooloo
