After a long time of waiting, Pokemon Go Fest 2021 has finally been announced! Here’s everything we know about the fun-filled event so far, including how to get tickets, Pokemon spawns, schedule, and more!
While restrictions left many players trapped inside during 2020, Pokemon Go Fest is back for its 2021 iteration, and it promises to be the best event that trainers will see this summer.
We’ve already seen Pokemon X and Y legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal introduced into Niantic’s iconic mobile app, as part of the Luminous Legends event, so players everywhere are desperate to uncover what’s next.
So, without further ado, let’s run through the details we have so far on Pokemon Go Fest 2021.
When is Pokemon Go Fest 2021?
Niantic have confirmed that Pokemon Go Fest 2021 will be a two-day weekend event that takes place on July 17 and 18, 2021.
Each day will have its own special set of features, with Saturday, July 17 focused on catching all your favorite Pokemon and Sunday, July 18 focused on battling in Raids!
How to get tickets for Pokemon Go Fest 2021
In order to get the full Pokemon Go Fest experience, you’ll need to buy a ticket. Last year, these cost $14.99 (£14.99), but this year, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Go, tickets will only cost $5 (£4.99).
Here’s how to get a ticket for Pokemon Go Fest 2021:
- Open the Pokemon Go app.
- Press the Pokeball menu button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the Shop button.
- Scroll down to the ‘Global Events’ section of the Shop.
- Tap on the Pokemon Go Fest 2021 image and hit Buy.
Now that your ticket is secured, simply wait for the event to kick off on July 17!
Perhaps most importantly, getting a ticket gives you access to the two full days of festivity, so you won’t need to buy two individual tickets.

The special research that takes place on Saturday, July 17 will see trainers help Professor Willow and the team leaders put on an incredible concert celebration, with rewards including avatar items and a Mythical encounter.
Trainers can also choose between Pikachu Rock Star or Pikachu Pop Star, and your choice will determine which music will play during the event. The legendary Junichi Masuda has produced brand new tracks for the event!
Fan favorites return to Raids
On Saturday, July 17, Pokemon including Hitmontop, Cranidos, and Dieno will be appearing in Raids. They’ll also be joined by Galarian Ponyta and Galarian Zigzagoon wearing special costumes.
On Sunday, July 18, a number of currently-unannounced fan-favorites will be returning to Raids. There will also be loads of opportunities to earn Raid Passes by spinning Gyms, completing Timed Research, and claiming a free event bundle.

On Saturday, July 17, ticket holders will be able to work together to complete a unique challenge each hour. Once the challenge is completed, they’ll earn a bonus for the remainder of the hour.
More Shiny Pokemon will be released!
Shiny Unown F, Shiny Throh, Shiny Sawk, Shiny Whismur, Shiny Chimecho, Shiny Audino, and Shiny Tympole will all be making their debuts in Pokemon Go during the event.
As well as those new additions, all Pokemon appearing in the wild and attracted to Incense will have an increased chance of being Shiny, with more chance of a Shiny encounter on Saturday, July 17.
Will Meloetta make its debut?
Many players have pointed out that the musical theme that dominates the design of the festival’s logo, coupled with the grass green and sky blue color scheme, indicates that we’ll be seeing the introduction of Gen V Mythical Pokemon, Meloetta.
The idea of a music-themed event is amplified by Niantic’s newest status, which has two drum emojis at either end of the text.
