What is the longest amount of time you’ve managed to keep a Pokemon in a gym while playing Pokemon Go? A week? A month? Meanwhile, it probably took a tank of a Pokemon like Blissey, Snorlax, or Melmetal to manage all of that and bag the measly 50-coin reward.

One Pokemon Go fan seems to be pushing the game to its limits, as they have shown off their impressive seven-year-long gym record. Even more unbelievably, they are doing it with a humble Weedle.

A Pokemon Go player shared their story on Reddit, showing that their beastly little bug has been in a gym for just over 2583 days, or around seven years. They also added the comment, “I left my Weedle in this gym over 7 years ago, is this rare?”

People appear impressed by the heroics of this Pokemon and the longstanding record, with one person commenting, “LOL. I’ve had some long stretches but I’ve never seen 7 years.”

Then, another said, “What a legend. Any Pokemon that has held a gym for so long should become a lucky 4* for lore reasons. That Weedle is jacked.”

As it turns out, the author of this post has been adding updates over the years, as one comment underneath shares an earlier look at Weedle’s triumph in the gym, with the comment “Ur him.” To this, the author replied saying, “Yep lol. I’ve had people messaging me for updates.”

One comment shares a rather pessimistic view, adding, “Best part is you are going to get just 50 coins” before another person added, “Maybe ‘daily limit reached'” before another person tacked on, “That would make me so mad.”

It seems that some people remember the previous posts about the adventures of this persistent Weedle, as one person asks, “A few years ago you mentioned he gained a friend in the gym; how many mons are with him now?” The author replied, “He’s one of 4 at the moment.”
