Some Pokemon Go Research Tasks are fun and easy-going, giving players a simple way to stock up on important items and catch rare ‘mons while exploring the game. Others, however, are not so simple – and often face the ire of the community.
If you search for the most hated Research Task on Pokemon Go forums and social media pages, chances are that you’ll come across Welcome Party at least once or twice. This Research Task is infamously tricky to complete if you’re a predominantly solo player, as it revolves around Party Play.
The Research Task reared its head in a community discussion, where a relieved player shared that they’d finished every step of the task, accidentally kickstarting a discussion on Pokemon Go and parenting in the process.
The person behind the original post uploaded a snap of their completed Research Task with a meme and the text, “Don’t ask me how I did it, I just did it, it was hard”. Other Pokemon Go players in the thread were impressed by their dedication, congratulating them on the win and sharing their own stories.
Seeing the Welcome Party screen clearly encouraged some painful memories to resurface for some players, with one person lamenting, “The worst research ever. Dear god.” Others were inclined to agree, with another person chiming in that the Kecleon Research Task could take that title.

Others congratulated the original player for their success, with one sharing, “Congratz mate!!! Here was my cheat for this one, have a wife and 2 teenagers. When they are unwilling to go on forced Pokemon walks with you…steal their phones and run out the door.”
There were several parents in this thread, all unveiling how they play the game alongside their loved ones – including the original Pokemon Go player.
One person even joked, “Now I need to go find someone, convince them to marry me and raise two kids to get this all done….. but what should I do with them kids at the end of the challenge?” Another confessed, “Don’t tell my gf this is the real reason I’m looking forward to moving in together!”
