The Legendary Heroes Zacian and Zamazenta are two of the best fighters in Pokemon Go but they can be quite elusive. Here’s how to get the Sword & Shield mascots in Niantic’s game and whether or not they can be Shiny.
Even though Zacian and Zamazenta have been part of Pokemon Go for a while now, they are two of the most hard-to-get Legendaries in the game, with very few appearances since they debuted back in 2021.
Luckily for trainers, the Max Out season focused mainly on the Galar region and brought each of them back with their respective events. Now, the Hero Duo is returning one last time to give the current season an epic send-off.
How to get Zacian & Zamazenta in Pokemon Go
As Legendaries, there’s only one way to get Zacian and Zamazenta in the game. First, you must defeat them in a 5-Star Raid battle and then attempt to catch them using the limited amount of Premier Balls given to you at the end of the encounter.
The appearance of either Zacian or Zamazenta as Raid Bosses will depend on the Raid Rotations or special occasions. With the Max Out Finale event bringing them back from November 27, 2024, until December 3, 2024, players will have plenty of chances to get the Pokemon Sword & Shield mascot.
Additionally, they will get extra time in the spotlight, as they’ll be featured in the Raid Hour taking place on November 27, 2024. More so, they will appear along with fellow Legendaries Regidrago and Regieleki.
Can Zacian & Zamazenta be Shiny?
Yes, Zacian and Zamazenta can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as they both recently debuted their special variations during the Max Out season Legendary Heroes and Galar Expedition events, respectively.
The differences between regular and Shiny Zacian are subtle, with its body fur getting a little lighter and the usual pink details changing to steel blue. For Zamazenta, things are more obvious, as its usual red body goes full fuchsia while its blue details turn burgundy.

Remember that the odds of coming across a Shiny Legendary are very slim and the only way to increase your chances of an encounter is by challenging them to multiple Raid battles.
How to get Zacian Crowned Sword & Zamazenta Crowned Shield in Pokemon Go
Both Fairy-type Zacian and Fighting-type Zamazenta have two forms: their regular ones known as ‘Hero of Many Battles’ and their alternate forms ‘Crowned Sword’ and ‘Crowned Shield’, respectively.
However, these special forms that give both Legendaries the secondary Steel typing haven’t been introduced into the game yet.
As the Max Out season focused on the Galar region, many thought it would be the ideal time to introduce these forms, but with the season almost over and all the upcoming events already announced, it seems players will have to keep waiting.
