Known as the teamwork Pokemon, Passimian originally appeared in the Sun & Moon games, and like in those titles, it’s a fairly difficult creature to encounter in Pokemon Go.
Even though it’s been over a year since the Fighting-type joined the game, plenty of players haven’t been able to register it in their Pokedex. Luckily for them, Passimian is getting its own Research Day along with its Alolan counterpart, Oranguru.
To help you catch one of your own, here’s everything you need to know about Passimian.
How to get Passimian
Currently, the only way to catch Passimian is by finding it in the wild. However, its spawn rates are very low, that’s why it’s considered a rare encounter.
The good news is that Passimian will be featured in the upcoming Research Day along with Normal/Psychic-type Oranguru.
The event will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM local time and the players who complete event-themed Field Research Tasks will have the chance to encounter the lemur Pokemon.
Passimian used to appear as a Tier 3 Raid Boss, but due to current raid rotations, it’s no longer available. A special encounter was also rewarded for completing the Field Research Task ‘Trade a Pokemon: 2023 Pokemon World Championships’.

Can Passimian be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Shiny Passimian is coming to Pokemon Go soon. After over a year in the game, Passimian will get its Shiny variation during the Oranguru and Passimian Research Day on September 22, 2024.
Players can identify Shiny Passimian by the blue fur on its shoulders and part of the tail. Also, the helmet on its head and the enormous berry on its hand will change from lime green to deep orange.
Does Passimian have an evolution?
Passimian is the only member of its Pokemon family, which means it does not have an evolution in Pokemon Go – or any other game, for that matter.
While this does make it a slightly less interesting Pokemon to catch, it also means you don’t need to spend time stocking up on loads of its Candy. You can just catch one and move on to something else.
