Incubators are valuable

By default, you start with one incubator in Pokemon Go. This incubator is available to use during the entirety of your Pokemon Go career as it has infinite uses.

However, to the frustration of some players, this is the only infinite use incubator you can get.

If you want more incubators in Pokemon you unfortunately only have two options.

  1. Buy more with Pokecoins
  2. Levelling up your trainer
    • Level 6: One incubator
    • Level 10: One incubator
    • Level 15: One incubator
    • Level 20: Two incubators
    • Level 25: One incubator
    • Level 30: Three incubators
    • Level 40: Four incubators

Simply put, this means incubators are very rare items. In the event Niantic make them available for free, players should make the most of it.

How much do incubators cost?

A single incubator currently costs 150 Pokecoins, which is around $1.50. This incubator gives you three uses before it breaks.

This means you’re paying 50 cents per egg hatch. This isn’t bad value if you are a serious Pokemon Go player.

There’s also the alternative option of a super incubator. This costs $2, assuming you buy Pokecoins at the base rate, and hatches eggs 1.5x faster. Consequently, per km walked, this provides better value than the standard incubator.

Eggstravaganza event

Any incubators you have at the moment are worth saving for the upcoming Pokemon Go Eggstravaganza event.

The Pokemon Go Eggstravaganza event runs from April 16 to April 23…

As the name of the event suggests, eggs will take less distance to hatch, therefore making incubators more effective. Specifically, incubators will take half the distance to hatch an egg.

The Eggstravaganza event also brings more bonus which are as follows:

  • 2× Hatch Candy
  • 2× Incubator effectiveness
  • Lucky Eggs will last twice as long

Moreover, 2km eggs will provide greater benefit also. Pokemon such as Pichu, Smoochum and Magby will be in the 2km egg pool. There’s also the chance to get a shiny Buneary.

So, if you’re thinking about using some incubators soon, or even purchasing them, it will be worth saving them for the week of April 16 when the event starts.
