Pokemon Day 2024 came bearing good news for Scarlet & Violet fans, as a special event is coming to celebrate the franchise’s anniversary.

For a week at a time, each one of the starters’ third stages will be the protagonist of the 7-Star Tera Raid battles. They will have a particular Tera Type – Venusaur will be a Ground-Tera Type – and the Mightiest Mark as a recognition of how hard to beat they are.

Keep in mind that once this special event is over, the only way to obtain a Ground-Tera Type Venusaur will be if this particular Raid event returns in the future, as it happened with Dragon-Tera Type Charizard.

Venusaur moveset & type

Venusaur will take on the Ground Tera Type for the 7-Star Raid, which will make it weak against Ice, Water, and Grass-type moves.

Some of the moves Venusaur can use during the battle include Earth Power, Amnesia, and Sludge Bomb, though due to the battle status, it can use up to four extra moves, such as Sunny Day and Petal Blizzard.

Best Chesnaught build to counter Venusaur

As a dual Grass/Fighting creature, Chesnaught can target Ground-Tera Type Venusaur weakness to Grass, plus thanks to its resistance to both Ground and Grass-type attacks, it has a pretty full coverage against the mighty Pokemon.

Plus, thanks to its Bulletproof ability, it can be immune to both Sludge Bomb and Acid Spray attacks, and if Venusaur happens to disable your ability, it can use Spiky Shield.

Best Appletun build to counter Venusaur

As Chesnaught, Appletun is resistant to both Ground and Grass-type attacks, so no matter what move Ground-Tera Type Vanusaur uses during the Raid, it will be covered.

To protect itself from the Poison-type attacks the enemy might use, Appletun can turn to Light Screen and then use Apple Acid to lower Venusaur’s Sp. Def and deal damage at the same time.

Best Calyrex (Ice Rider) build to counter Venusaur

To target Ground-Tera Type Venusaur’s Ice weakness, we can take a properly prepared Calyrex (Ice Rider) to the Raid battle, plus its dual Psychic/Ice-type has no vulnerabilities against Venusaur’s moveset.

More so, this strong physical attacker has great stats and can remove the Sunny weather, setting up Snow instead.

Best Frosmoth build to counter Venusaur

The final option you can take to your encounter with Venusaur is Frosmoth, a dual Ice/Bug-type Pokemon that has no weaknesses against the Tera Raid Boss, and additionally is resistant to both Ground and Grass-moves.

Unlike the other more physical or special solo options, Frosmoth is a team player and works as a support, thanks to its very useful moveset. With Struggle Bug, it can lower Venusaur’s Sp. Atk, can use Helping Hand to increase the allies’ damage, and finally, its ability Ice Scales halves the damage from special moves.
