30. Shinx

Shinx in the Pokemon animeThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0403
  • Debut: Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
  • Type: Electric

Luxray is a great Electric-type Pokemon, but before it grows into an intimidating lion, it starts as the tiny cub, Shinx.

This cute fellow has a lovely design and color combination that gives glimpses of its type, but it also has details that make it more adorable like the short tuft on its head and cheeks, the yellow lines around its front paws – it adds a line with each evolution – and the star details in both ears and tail.

29. Munchlax

  • Pokedex number: 0446
  • Debut: Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
  • Type: Normal

The imposing Snorlax has been a fan favorite ever since its debut in Pokemon Red & Blue, and it remains an incredibly powerful choice in many games including the popular Pokemon Go. But in Gen 4, the much smaller – and cuter – Munchlax was introduced as a baby Pokemon that evolves into Snorlax when it reaches high friendship.

If you couldn’t tell by its name, this little ‘mon only has one thing on its mind, and that’s munching food. Those who watched the anime got to know a little bit more of Munchlax’s sweet and funny nature as it appeared as part of May’s team.

28. Bidoof

  • Pokedex number: 0399
  • Debut: Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
  • Type: Normal

Bidoof has been the subject of internet memes for years, but it’s slowly becoming recognized as one of the most adorable Pokemon yet thanks to its appearance in New Pokemon Snap. Watching the beaver-like creature swim around the water, build dams, and chomp on fluffruit was very charming, and helped bolster its status as a certified cutie.

However, don’t let that fluffiness and big teeth confuse you, Bidoof has a temper, so you better not disturb it.

27. Rockruff

Rockruff PokemonThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0744
  • Debut: Pokemon Sun & Moon
  • Type: Rock

Many of the cutest Pokemon are based on puppies, and Rockruff is definitely up there with the best. It’s lived with humans since ancient times, and will always return to its owner once it knows their scent. Now that’s what you call a good boy.

The floppy ears, big blue eyes, and proud pose give Rockruff a very endearing look. Like all puppies, it’s filled with energy and its eagerness to be pet is quite heartwarming.

However, if you want to keep its cute factor, don’t evolve it, as Lycanroc in its Midnight Form is one of the scariest Pokemon you’ll ever meet.

26. Sandile

pokemon sandileTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0551
  • Debut: Pokemon Black & White
  • Type: Ground/Dark

A lot of people might not be huge fans of reptiles, but Sandile is a certified cutie. Its cheeky smile mixed with those circles around its eyes – which make it look like it’s wearing glasses – is a recipe for charm.

Often portrayed as a mischievous and curious Pokemon, Sandile is often seen getting in trouble and then hiding under the sand. However, its good demeanor and playful attitude make it a very cute and approachable Pokemon.

25. Pancham

Serena's Pancham in the Pokemon animeThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0674
  • Debut: Pokemon X & Y
  • Type: Fighting

There are plenty of bear variants in the world and Pokemon was not far behind with the number of bear-lookalike creatures added to the franchise. Pancham is one of them and it is based on a young panda.

This Pokemon’s cuteness lies in its small size, but big attitude. Despite having a cute furry design, Pancham is known above all for its haughty attitude, which clashes with how it looks.

Pancham’s efforts to look tough with the mischievous grin, glasses, and green leaf on its mouth have the opposite effect and end up making this Pokemon even more endearing.

24. Cutiefly

  • Pokedex number: 0742
  • Debut: Pokemon Sun & Moon
  • Type: Bug/Fairy

How can you not put a Pokemon with “cutie” in its name on a list of the cutest Pokemon of all time? As its name perfectly describes, Cutiefly is a cute flying bug known for being the smallest Pokemon in existence.

Cutiefly’s design is a mix of butterflies and bees, which makes it look extremely delicate. The translucent wings give it an ethereal and magical touch, highlighted by its soft white and yellow palette.

Its playful and gentle demeanor, as well as its harmless vibe, make Cutiefly a charming and approachable Pokemon.

23. Minccino

pokemon minccinoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0572
  • Debut: Pokemon Black & White
  • Type: Normal

The Pokemon franchise is filled with rodent-like creatures such as Pikachu, Rattata, Patrat, Pachirisu, and more. However, not all of them can be as cute as Minccino.

This Gen 5 Pokemon’s petite size clashes with its humongous ears and tail, giving it a disproportionate but really cute design. Plus, the tufts of hair on its forehead, chest, and ears give it a fluffy look that makes you want to hug Minccino all day.

Minccino’s curious and innocent look – along with its playful nature – has trainers looking for this Pokemon everywhere.

22. Amaura

pokemon amaura dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0698
  • Debut: Pokemon X & Y
  • Type: Rock/Ice

Those who grew up with The Land Before Time movies will always have a sweet spot for long-necked dinosaurs, which is why the fossil Pokemon known as Amaura is so appealing.

This tiny dinosaur introduced in Gen 6 has a mythical vibe due to its color scheme and design. Its unique striking wide eyes, the gems on its sides, and the iridescent sail-like structure that represents its eyebrows make Amaura an ethereal Pokemon with a cuteness overdose. Plus, it seems to be a very gentle creature.

21. Lillipup

  • Pokedex number: 0506
  • Debut: Pokemon Black & White
  • Type: Normal

Another dog Pokemon that earned a spot in our ranking is Lillipup. This Gen 5 pup resembles a very sweet terrier with big expressive brown eyes, puffy fur, and a little nose all in a very tiny body.

Like all dogs, Lillipup is extremely loyal and energetic, and its charm increases due to its friendliness and good demeanor.

Known for its tracking abilities, Lillipup is often used as a radar to help gather information about its surroundings.

20. Spheal

pokemon sphealTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0363
  • Debut: Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire
  • Type: Ice/Water

Baby seals are adorable animals with irresistible big round eyes, which is why there are a few Pokemon inspired by them.

The iconic Seel from Gen 1 should be part of this list, but Spheal stole its place by being even cuter. Its extremely round chubby body resembles a plush toy. This, along with its big glassy eyes, wide smile, and tiny fangs make Spheal a very charming Pokemon with a sweet and loving nature.

19. Pikachu

Captain PikachuThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0025
  • Debut: Pokemon Red & Blue
  • Type: Electric

There’s a reason why Pikachu has become one of the most recognizable mascots in the whole world. It’s just so darn cute!

Article continues after ad

Whether it’s appearing alongside Ash in the Pokemon anime, at the top of your must-catch wishlist in the games, or on the latest piece of merch, there’s no denying Pikachu is one of the cutest ‘mon of all time.

This is due to its chubby rodent design, round red cheeks, and squeaky sounds, but mostly because of its awesome personality. Pikachu is an amiable, loyal, and funny creature anyone would love to have around.

18. Stufful

pokemon stuffulTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0759
  • Debut: Pokemon Sun & Moon
  • Type: Normal/Fighting

Like Teddiursa, Pancham, Kubfu, and many others, Stufful is based on a bear cub. Bear cubs are already established as some of the cutest creatures in the world, which is probably why Pokemon decided to take inspiration from them several times.

In Stufful’s case, its bear design is mixed with pink and white tones that along with its very round head makes it look like a giant candy. The pointy ears, round tail, big chunky paws, and smile can melt the iciest heart.

However, Stufful dislikes being touched, so you’ll have to appreciate it from a safe distance.

17. Wooper

pokemon wooperTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0194
  • Debut: Pokemon Gold & Silver
  • Type: Water/Ground

The amphibious Wooper is based on an axolotl, which is already a cute creature. Throw in one of the widest mouths in the franchise along with the smallest eyes and you have one funny – though sweet-looking – creature.

What adds to Wooper’s appeal is that it’s a dull-witted Pokemon oblivious to its surroundings. Because of its timid and childish nature, it prefers to stay close to its evolved form, Quagsire, for protection.

The fact that Wooper has no arms could be creepy, by in its tiny body and with that face, it only makes it more endearing.

16. Vulpix

pokemon vulpix alolan vulpix dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0037
  • Debut: Pokemon Red & Blue // Pokemon Sun & Moon
  • Type: Fire // Ice

The original Gen 1 Pokemon will always hold a special place in the hearts of longtime trainers, but even without that feeling of nostalgia, it’s hard to deny that Vulpix is one of the most adorable creatures in the franchise – and now it has an Alolan form, there’s double the cuteness!

Article continues after ad

The fox inspiration along with the wide eyes, fluffy tuft and tail, along with the sweet and delicate cry put both Vulpix versions on our ranking.

Plus, the regular form was one of Brock’s Pokemon in the OG anime, so there’s an extra attachment to this foxy creature.

15. Jigglypuff

pokemon jigglypuff dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0039
  • Debut: Pokemon Red & Blue
  • Type: Normal

The singing Pokemon known as Jigglypuff has long been the unofficial face of ‘cute’ in the Pokemon franchise, appearing on all kinds of merch like t-shirts and phone cases.

Article continues after ad

It may have been pushed down the list by newer Pokemon over the last two decades, but it just about holds onto a spot in our top 10, mainly due to that adorable tuft of fur on its head and incredibly big round eyes.

In the anime, Jigglypuff showed its larger-than-life personality by chasing Ash and the gang just to sign to them. Unfortunately, it became very frustrated by the fact that everybody kept falling asleep in every performance.

14. Squirtle

SquirtleThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0007
  • Debut: Pokemon Red & Blue
  • Type: Water

All of the original Kanto starters are worthy of the term ‘cute’, but we think Squirtle is even more adorable than Charmander and Bulbasaur, and it’s mostly due to its incredibly fun and loveable personality.

This tortoise-inspired creature hides away inside its shell when it feels threatened and has one of the most recognizable cries. Even when it’s trying to be cool as a shades-wearing member of the Squirtle Squad gang, it fails because it’s just too charming.

Eventually, it loses its cuteness when it evolves into the mighty Blastoise. However, it’s an amazing Water-type Pokemon to have on your team, so don’t be sad.

13. Togepi

Togepi PokemonThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0175
  • Debut: Pokemon Gold & Silver
  • Type: Fairy

One of the most recognizable Pokemon for trainers who grew up watching the OG anime is Togepi, as this adorable creature was Misty’s sidekick for more than 200 episodes.

It’s literally a baby inside an eggshell, so it was bound to be adorable. Plus, its round shape, stubby arms, and round squishy feet add to the equation. Even its evolved forms, Togetic and Togekiss, are pretty darn cute.

12. Azurill

  • Pokedex number: 0298
  • Debut: Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire
  • Type: Normal/Fairy

Both Marill and Azumarill are great Pokemon, with the latter one even being one of the best fighters of all time excelling in Pokemon Go, Unite, and Scarlet & Violet. However, it’s their baby form, Azurill, the one that got a spot in this ranking.

The incredibly small size plus the color, round ears, and the fact that it walks by bouncing on its own tail (which is the same size as its whole body) makes Azurill extremely cute and loveable.

11. Piplup

pokemon piplup dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0393
  • Debut: Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
  • Type: Water

Everyone loves penguins, so it stands to reason that everyone loves Piplup! This Gen 4 starter almost looks like a child’s toy with its soft blue color scheme and tiny beak, and although it evolves into one of the best starter evolutions, Empoleon, we’re always tempted to keep Piplup exactly the way it is because it’s so cute.

In the anime, Piplup was introduced as Dawn’s Pokemon, and it became one of the highlights of the show thanks to the clash between its endearing look and incredibly bad temper and competitiveness.

10. Shaymin – Land Forme

pokemon shaymin land formeTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0492
  • Debut: Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
  • Type: Grass

Legendaries may be absent from this list because of their ferocious nature, but there are plenty of adorable Mythical creatures, and Shaymin is one of them.

While both Land and Sky Formes are desirable, it’s the hedgehog-inspired Land Forme that really takes the cake. How could anyone resist that round body, adorable face, and the flowers that grow on its back when it’s happy? Plus, it’s so small and squishable that you’ll never want to let go.

9. Emolga

pokemon emolgaTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0587
  • Debut: Pokemon Black & White
  • Type: Electric/Flying

This flying squirrel resembles fellow rodents like Minccino, Deddene, Togedemaru, and even Pikachu. However, Emolga is special in its own way.

The tiny body, big glassy eyes, cute color scheme, and yellow details that allude to its Electric type are just the tip of the iceberg. Emolga is a very resourceful fella that uses its cheeks to produce electric shocks to grill its food – talk about a chef – but it also has a temper, so be careful.

Article continues after ad

The best part of Emolga? It doesn’t have an evolution, so you can travel with it and level it up all you want without it changing forms.

8. Teddiursa

pokemon teddiursa dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0216
  • Debut: Pokemon Gold & Silver
  • Type: Normal

What can be more cute than a literal teddy bear? Teddiursa’s small size, round ears, brown fur, and moon detail on its forehead make this Pokemon extremely endearing.

Teddiursa is known for being a little mischievous and can be usually found creating its own honey using Beedrill pollen and fruits. When it gets honey, the crescent moon on its forehead will glow, making this bear unbearably cute.

Article continues after ad

However, as with real-life cubs, you shouldn’t mess with this tiny creature. It might look very innocent, but it can be quite tough, and even tougher – and scarier – when it evolves into Ursaring.

7. Sobble

pokemon sobble dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0816
  • Debut: Pokemon Sword & Shield
  • Type: Water

When the Galar region starters were unveiled ahead of Pokemon Sword & Shield, the obvious standout for lovers of all things cute was definitely the ultimate sad boy, Sobble.

This Water-type Pokemon’s defining trait is bursting into tears whenever it’s scared – we can relate to that – so it’s only natural that we all just want to hold it close and give it a hug.

Article continues after ad

This sobbing lizard with huge eyes is elusive and quite timid, and it might be even hard to spot as it can turn itself invisible when wet.

6. Togedemaru

Pokemon Go's new "lame" Shiny slammed by communityThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0777
  • Debut: Pokemon Sun & Moon
  • Type: Electric/Steel

Any creature known as the ‘Roly-Poly Pokemon’ was bound to get a spot on this list, so it should come as no surprise to see Togedemaru placing so highly.

It’s pretty much a ball of excitement with tiny feet, even tinier hands, and Pikachu-inspired markings. It’s impossible not to want to squeeze this little rodent. However, don’t make it angry, or you’ll face the wrath of those fur spikes on its back.

5. Phanpy

PhanpyThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0231
  • Debut: Pokemon Gold & Silver
  • Type: Ground

Elephants are one of the most majestic animals in the world, but when they’re young, they’re also one of the cutest – so it’s no surprise that a Pokemon based on a baby elephant would appear on this list.

With a pastel blue color, large trunk, and floppy ears that it uses to cool itself down, Phanpy is the perfect cute companion.

It appeared in the anime as Ash’s Pokemon, but like many others on this list, Phanpy loses all of its cuteness when it evolves into Donphan.

4. Mew

  • Pokedex number: 0151
  • Debut: Pokemon Red & Blue
  • Type: Psychic

The second Mythic on our list is the adorable Mew, a favorite of long-time Pokemon fans who’ve been with the franchise since Gen 1. This elusive fellow has the perfect balance between cuteness and strength, keeping it relevant over the years.

Legend says Mew contains the DNA of every single Pokemon in its body, and clearly, it favored the cute ones to get those giant eyes, adorable sounds, and playful personality traits. Most Psychic types have a creepy element to them, but not this iconic pink creature.

3. Sprigatito

pokemon sprigatito dexertoTHE POKEMON COMPANY
  • Pokedex number: 0906
  • Debut: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
  • Type: Grass

The latest Grass Starter has quickly risen over other Pokemon – including its fellow felines – and settled as one of the most adorable Pokemon in the franchise.

Let’s be honest, all cats are cute, but Sprigatito’s big eyes, soft tones, fluffy fur, and pointy ears have trainers in love. Plus, anime watchers have had the chance to get to know it a little further, as it appeared as Liko’s Pokemon.

It does add to its appeal that its final stage, Meowscarada, is one hell of a fighter and has been killing it across games such as Pokemon Unite.

2. Cubchoo

Cubchoo PokemonThe Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0613
  • Debut: Pokemon Black & White
  • Type: Ice

It might be controversial to place the Ice-type Cubchoo above the likes of Pikachu and Mew, but can you blame us? Even the snot coming out of its nose is somehow adorable.

Similar to Teddiursa and bears, baby polar bears are some of the cutest animals in the world – and if we could, we would be running towards them to hug their fluffy bodies – so of course Pokemon had to add their own version to their Pokedex.

Article continues after ad

Like many on this list, Cubchoo evolves into one of the least-cute Pokemon in the franchise, the intimidating Beartic. But until that happens, you’ll just want to give it a big hug.

1. Eevee

Eevee from Pokemon anime. The Pokemon Company
  • Pokedex number: 0133
  • Debut: Pokemon Red & Blue
  • Type: Normal

While Pikachu may be the most iconic Pokemon of all time, it’s another Kanto region creature that’s earned the top spot on our cute list… Eevee! Is it a fox? Is it a cat? A dog? No one really knows, but maybe it’s the fact that it takes the most adorable parts of all of these animals that makes it so irresistible. Eevee is without a doubt the cutest Pokemon ever thanks to its design, sweet and calm nature, and also its iconic evolutions.

Article continues after ad

We can agree that several Eeveelutions are incredible. However, the Fairy-type Sylveon is the ultimate fan-favorite thanks to its lovely pastel pink color scheme, good type, and incredible power, and while some might be put off by its mildly unsettling stare, most trainers love this Gen 6 beauty.

Those are our picks for the cutest Pokemon of all time. You can also check out the ranking for the creepiest Pokemon, as well as our selection for top Grass and Electric-type creatures.
