Palworld CEO, Takuro Mizobe, and a network engineer, Chujo Hiroto, have shared the cost of running the game’s servers. In a pair of light-hearted posts on social media, the pair revealed the figure: ¥70 million, or almost $500k USD.

Palworld has captivated players across the world, selling 19 million copies across Steam and Xbox. And breaking a slew of records in the process.

All of this is no mean feat for an indie game in early access. But a triumph like this doesn’t come cheap.

Pocketpair’s CEO, Takuro Mizobe, made a light-hearted post on social media recently, showing the companies expected server costs for this month. The total is over ¥70 million, almost $500k USD.

“Wait, maybe we’ll go bankrupt due to server fees?” Says the translated caption of the screenshot sharing the estimate.

The number of concurrent players Palworld has been drawing is massive, so it’s not surprising to see a figure this high.

One of Pocketpair’s network engineers, Chujo Hiroto, soon chimed in to explain in English why costs are so high.
