Two Overwatch League teams set to face off in playoffs rematch

The Philadelphia Fusion will take on the New York Excelsior during the Fusion’s “Homecoming” showmatch on December 1.

The Fusion teased fans all month by revealing who they wouldn’t be playing in the Homecoming match, and on November 19 they announced on Twitter they would be facing the New York Excelsior.

Philadelphia and New York met in last season’s semi-finals where the Fusion advanced to the finals after a 2-0 win.

New York will go into the matchup with a similar roster to the one they had during the playoffs, minus Song ‘Janus’ Jun-hwa. Not much has changed on the Fusion side of things either, except for the release of a few players and sending Georgii ‘ShaDowBurn’ Guscha to the Paris Eternal.

The match is set to take place on Saturday, December 1. For those that can’t make the trip, the match will be streamed live on Twitch.

The match should be a good one, as the Excelsior will look to get some payback for the embarrassing loss Philadelphia handed them last year in the playoffs.

Based on the reception to the Los Angeles Valiant and San Francisco Shock’s “California Cup” showmatches, it seems like Overwatch League fans have plenty of appetite for offseason activities.
