Shock reveal Striker’s status for OWL Grand Finals following accident

San Francisco Shock DPS Nam-joo ‘Striker’ Kwon’s status headed into the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals was in question after hurting him arm and hand, but now the team has confirmed he’ll be on stage against the Titans.

Striker posted images of his injury that happened while he was skateboarding to Twitter on September 21 and a ton of people were wondering if it would allow him to compete in the Grand Finals.

At the Finals media day on September 27, Striker and his teammates confirmed that the DPS player would be good to go for the match on September 29.

Striker insists he’s ready to play

When asked about the injury and whether or not it would allow him to play, Striker confidently replied “Yeah i can play, I’m good.”

San Francisco coach Dae-hee ‘Crusty’ Park revealed the pro still doesn’t have full range of motion following the slip-up.

“He was trying to skateboard and he fell,” Crusty said of the incident. “Honestly it’s not perfect, he can’t move a lot, but it’s fine to play a game.”

Striker insisted he would be joining his team on stage for the Grand Finals.

Striker’s teammate Matthew ‘super’ DeLisi also confirmed that the DPS star would be at the Finals.

For Shock fans and anyone who enjoys high-level Overwatch, it’s very good news that Striker should be able to participate in the Grand Finals.

To the player’s credit, he’s insisted that the injury hasn’t affected his ability to play Overwatch since shortly after the accident happened.

The 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals

Striker will join the rest of the Shock as they face the Vancouver Titans in the Grand Finals on September 29 to determine who the best Overwatch team in the world for 2019 is.

The rival teams have faced each other four times before during the season (including in the Stage 1 and 2 playoffs), splitting the series at two wins for Vancouver, and two for the Shock.

The 2019 Grand Finals are taking place in Philadelphia on September 29.

It will be interesting to see how Striker performs in the biggest Overwatch match of the year and if his injury affects his play or slows him down at all.
