The L.A. Valiant unveiled a brand new color scheme for the 2020 Overwatch League season on January 7, and fans seem to be divided on the team’s new look.
In the Overwatch League’s Inaugural Season and Season 2, the Valiant rocked a dark green and gold as their primary colors.
Now, the green is officially gone and is being replaced by a light blue – not quite the electric blue of the new Mayhem or Spark, but not quite the dark blue of Boston either.

However, the change didn’t come as too big of a surprise to some fans, since the Overwatch League themselves leaked the new colors a few weeks before.
In an Instagram post by the league about the Valiant’s upcoming 2020 season, the new blue and yellow were used instead of the old green and gold.
A weird graphics change likewise popped up in 2019 that turned the Valiant logo on Roadhog’s stomach blue, and was quickly fixed, with a lot of fans likely thinking it was just another random glitch.
At the time of writing, the Valiant have revealed the new colors and several brand new hero skins for Mercy (of course), Doomist, Orisa, Zenyatta and Ana.

Compared to the Mayhem’s rebrand just a day before, though, Valiant fans seem divided on the new color scheme, and some seem upset that all of their green and gold merch is now out of date.
While some fans seem alright with the sunny sky blue and gold for the Southern California team, others don’t seem too thrilled.

Other Southern Californian teams like the Chargers in the NFL and the UCLA Bruins also use a similar gold and blue color scheme, so for the Valiant, at least the change makes sense for local fans.
Comparisons between the Valiant’s new colors and another Overwatch League team the Uprising didn’t take long, with Boston themselves calling out the valiant for becoming another blue and gold team.

The Valiant will be rocking the new color scheme for Season 3, which means that their old Overwatch League in-game skins will become unavailable for purchase before the season starts on February 8.
Florida told fans they would have until January 15 to purchase the old red and gold skins, but the Valiant haven’t confirmed the last date their skins will be available for purchase at the time of writing.
Maybe we could see L.A. pull out their old colorway as an alternate jersey in 2020, but a lot of fans will still miss the good old green and gold.
