A clip from a skilled Overwatch player highlights exactly why Bastion mains should learn his ‘rocket jump’ trick, as it can mean the difference between winning and losing a match.

Bastion has a long history in Overwatch. Once viewed as one of the most overpowered heroes in the game due to his ability to melt through health and shields like a hot knife through butter, he’s since received many nerfs to make him more in line with the other characters.

This doesn’t stop him from being a formidable foe, though, and can be a very unpredictable pick if his ‘rocket jump’ trick is learned, allowing him to reach new heights and leap over obstacles that many players would think to be impossible.

Bastion’s rocket jump move

While some players are already skilled in the ways of the rocket jump, it’s still a widely unknown trick. Reddit user ‘CrippledAnimal‘ showed it off in a crazy video that saw the robot leap out of a block attempt and straight into the fire.

In the clip, Bastion is set up in his Sentry mode where he uses his turret to rain down hell on the enemy team on Temple of Anubis, at the top of some stairs just past the archway before the first capture point.

When this fails and the opponents manage to get past the DPS, the player pops off his Configuration Tank ultimate and heads off to score some skills with his powerful blasts.

In what would usually be seen as an incredibly frustrating moment, an enemy Mei erects her Ice Wall at an attempt to stop him and block his ultimate completely – but little did she know, the crafty player had a little trick up their sleeve.

Aiming and shooting his ultimate at the ground below Bastion allowed the robot to soar up into the air and completely clear the wall, where he landed onto the other side safely before wreaking havoc onto the opponent team.

There, he got a triple kill before his ultimate timed out and he returned to his normal Recon mode where he tried his best to take out the pesky Mei.

It’s hard to imagine just how powerful the DPS would be if he could jump full-time because even being able to do so in an eight second window is truly game-changing and somewhat terrifying.

While this isn’t a new trick by any means, Bastion mains looking for a way to avoid being blocked by Ice Wall or just to simply reach a higher point where they can set up as a turret would greatly benefit from learning it.
