How to watch Overwatch’s 2019 Yule Log stream

Overwatch’s greatest holiday tradition is coming back, so get your cookies and milk ready for this year’s Yule Log stream with Jeff Kaplan and possibly more personalities from the game.

The tradition started back in 2017, when Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan sat in front of a crackling fireplace on stream for over ten hours on Christmas Eve.

Kaplan sat silently in the first stream, only moving occasionally to bring out props and tease chat by almost taking a bite of one of the cookies next to him.

The Yule Log stream in 2018 branched out with new skits, and other Overwatch personalities like voice actors and OWL pros taking their turns in front of the fire.

Now, as we head into the week of Christmas 2019, Overwatch has officially announced that there will be a third-annual Yule Log stream starting on December 24.

2017’s stream ran for about ten hours, and the 2018 version clocked in at just under 9, but no matter how long it lasts it will make a great backdrop for an Overwatch-themed Christmas Eve gathering.

Besides some impressive new branding, we have absolutely no idea what will happen during the stream, but we do know it will have something to do with Kaplan, at least to start.

While we might not learn anything new about Overwatch 2 during the stream, Kaplan has used the Yule Log to poke fun at some of the things the community has done over the past year, and the reaction to Overwatch 2 could definitely be included.

If you’re unable to catch the Christmas Eve Yule Log stream, don’t freak out. There are always VODs and Overwatch should replay the entire stream on Christmas Day.

Christmas, and the Yule Log stream, only comes once a year, so it will be a lot of fun to see what Kaplan and the Overwatch team have cooked up for 2019.
