D.va’s Overwatch PTR buff allows her to reach the top of Lijiang Tower

The new Overwatch Public Test Region patch reduces the cooldown of D.Va’s Boosters, making her much more mobile than before the update.

The hero shooter’s latest PTR patch went live on January 9, and contains significant updates for a number of heroes, including Mei, Baptiste, and D.Va.

D.Va’s changes reduce the cooldown of her Boosters from five seconds down to three, and players are already discovering how much easier it makes moving around.

On Twitter, user ceziun proudly announced that “the year is 2020 and DVA can now reach the top of Lijiang Tower,” along with a video of the feat.

To be absolutely clear, she can’t reach the top in one flight, as it still takes a bit of climbing and calculated falling on the roofs along with Boosting.

It takes six boosts in total for the Korean hero to reach the top of the tower, and while they don’t make it all the way up the spire, it’s definitely higher than she was able to fly before.

In a Reddit post about ceziun’s video, players shared even more tips on how to take advantage of the character’s reduced booster cooldown to maximize her mobility.

“While testing, I found that D.Va slides down sloped surfaces slower if she holds down primary fire,” Reddit user jaydenye_jr said. “Especially noticeable in the large sloped surfaces of Horizon Lunar Colony, giving her extra air time.”

The changes are still pretty new at the time of writing, so it will be interesting to see how much they really change her play style as players try them out.

D.Va’s new and improved Boosters might be a good pair with Symmetra’s Teleporter, which received a sneaky update that could make it one of the quickest movement abilities in Overwatch.

On the live client, there is a bit of a wait between the Teleporter being placed and when Symmetra and/or her teammates could pass through it, but that’s been taken away on the PTR, which could lead to some interesting combos in the future.
