Support Tier List for Overwatch 2Blizzard Entertainment

In Overwatch 2 Season 12, a lot of things have changed for support, and knowing which ones are the meta is key, so here’s our tier list of who are the best.

Season 12 has landed in Overwatch 2, and with it comes Overwatch’s newest Support hero, Juno, and with it a plethora of buffs and nerfs to once again shake up the meta.

With the season’s launch, we got quite a fair few balance changes to squishy mobile heroes, which saw their health pools decrease but with a damage buff as well.

Our tiers explained

Here’s a full explanation of what qualifies each character for their respective placement on the Overwatch 2 support tier list:

  • S: The strongest Supports you can play right now and generally a good pick no matter the comp you are playing with or against.
  • A: Very strong and is usually a good pick, however is not always right for every single comp and can be easily countered.
  • B: Although they are very good picks, they can be easily countered and can only work with specific comps.
  • C: Can be useful in niche scenarios but can be easily countered by other heroes.
  • D: Could be good in certain scenarios but is outclassed by other Supports.

S Tier

Lucio

OW2 LucioBlizzard Entertainment

Lucio got some nerfs in Season 12 but remains a key support in piloting many compositions, with his capacity to speed up all allies massively, his kit places him as a welcome addition into any team comp regardless of the meta. Alongside that, Lucio has one of the best forms of mobility in his wall riding. So if you have no idea what to play, just pick Lucio.

Ana

OW2 AnaBlizzard Entertainment

Over the past few seasons, Ana has taken a few dips, but now in Season 12, she still is a solid flex support pick. With fantastic utility in her Biotic nade, Sleep Dart, and Nano, and the ability to output a lot of healing and damage, she remains a solid pick for many team compositions.

Kiriko

Kiriko from overwatch 2Blizzard

When it comes to flex supports, Kiriko is always a great choice no matter the composition. She has great mobility, great damage output (if you’re mechanically skilled enough to land kunai headshots), and enough healing to keep your team alive. Now in Season 12, with her damage getting buffed, it still sees her as one of the game’s very best right now.

A Tier

Baptiste

OW2 BaptisteBlizzard Entertainment

With the right player behind him, Baptiste can almost function as a second hitscan DPS for the team, all the while healing the team. And with Immortality Field and Amp Matrix being helpful to save a teammate from death or shift the tempo, Bap is a great pick.

Illari

Illari from overwatch 2Blizzard

Illari received some quality-of-life changes in Season 12, but she still remains a great flex support. Although her damage has been slightly nerfed via an ammo decrease, she is still able to dish out a lot of damage and healing simultaneously, and her rifle is one of the best Support weapons right now, being able to poke effectively. Although Illari does suffer from a lack of useful utility for the team, so will have to be paired up with another flex Support.

Brigitte

OW2 BrigitteBlizzard Entertainment

Brigitte may not be a hero you pick in every lobby, but she’s incredibly effective at her job as an anti-dive peel main Support. Her Inspire passive gives a good amount of healing while her ultimate Rally makes her ridiculously tanky and provides a Stun to her Shield Bash. And when paired with Ana in a dive comp, she excels. However. when up against poke comps, she can falter.

B Tier

Moira

moira in overwatch 2Blizzard Entertainment

Although not exactly meta in the top play, for most players, Moira is still quite powerful in Season 12 as she can dish out tons of healing and damage while having enough mobility to peel or escape dives. Although it’s Moira’s lack of useful utility for your team and short range that kneecaps her from being great, especially when Illari does what she does, but with better range.

Juno

Juno overwatch 2 hero imageBlizzard

Releasing with Season 12, Juno has crash-landed into Overwatch 2. She can be a good alternative to Lucio, however, it is not always ideal. She can output a lot of healing and damage but lacks useful constant utility for your team, which is what makes Lucio so strong. The Martian is generally a good pick when playing poke and brawl comps, but if you’re against a coordinated dive team, it may be hard for you to find much usefulness as being susceptible to dives is her main weakness

C Tier

Zenyatta

Zenyatta Overwatch 2Blizzard

Zenyatta suffers from being a pocketpick. When playing poke-centric maps or comps, Zenyatta will be your go-to Support, but his vulnerability to dives is his failing point. A Tracer, Sombra, Reaper, Venture, or really any high-mobility DPS can easily mark you off the battle. But, if you’re playing maps such as Circuit Royale or Rialto, he will be a must-pick.

Lifeweaver

Lifeweaver from Overwatch 2Blizzard

Lifeweaver got a slight rework to his Petal Platform in Season 12 now being able to reuse constantly and some buffs to the way his healing recharges while shooting, which sees his viability go up. However, he isn’t exactly in the meta just yet. Although can be great at repositioning teammates and pulling off unique strats, he’s just too vulnerable to dives and too niche of a hero.

D Tier

Mercy

OW2 MercyBlizzard Entertainment

Mercy got some love in Season 11 thanks to Pink Mercy, and in Season 12 she got a little more loving thanks to some buffs, but she still remains the weakest in the roster right now. With barely any damage output, you’re relying heavily on whoever you’re boosting, and with quite paltry healing as well, she just isn’t the greatest pick, especially if the enemy has a smart hitscan DPS who will be marking you out of the skies. However, to Mercy Mafia, that might not matter at all.
