Advanced Doomfist tech lets you diagonally punch on every Overwatch map

Doomfist is easily one of the most polarizing heroes in Overwatch with his incredibly fast time to kill, shields, and dynamic abilities that can tilt a team into rage quitting. One of the best things players can learn is the advanced tech known as “diagonal punch” to get even more out of the beasty damage hero.

In his latest video, Nathan ‘KarQ’ Chan, along with Doomfist streamer Brandito, delved into his ability and how it can be used on every single map in the game.

As the Canadian explains, the trick to performing diagonal punches lies in the object you’re punching against. Walls or objects that are slightly angled or curved can help propel you upwards, leading to either “kill spots” or “setup spots.”

With kill spots, the punch will end up connecting with an enemy after Doomfist is propelled into the air resulting in a kill, while setup spots allow the player to follow up with a Seismic Slam into Rising Uppercut combo.

There are some things to remember though. For starters, your crosshair placement doesn’t really matter, so you don’t need to place it perfectly in order to perform a diagonal punch. Secondly, you shouldn’t hold down the jump button while releasing Rocket Punch or else you won’t go as high.

Once you have this all figured out, you can use this advanced tech to your advantage, and there are some insane things you can do on every map in the game.

Brandito showed off several sweet spots. Worth highlighting specifically is a neat section on Route 66 B which allows you to reach defenders up on the bridge. After bouncing off a slanted rock, the punch results in a killing blow as opponents will go flying backward and connect against a tiny pole.

Another crazy one is on Downtown Busan. By connecting with a white truck and then performing a Seismic Slam. Doomfist will literally go across the entire map and into the building on the other side.

Taking advantage of this tech can help you catch foes off guard, secure eliminations, and gain SR. Not to mention it can also get you out of precarious situations.

Even with the recent nerfs to the hero’s Uppercut, he still packs a serious punch – no pun intended. This tech is a big reason why.

Give it a shot if you’re looking to take your Doomfist game to the next level.
