Retired NBA All-Star Paul Pierce revealed why he actually needed to be carted off in a wheelchair during Game 1 of the 2008 Finals.
In real time, Pierce appeared hurt after laying sprawled out on the hardwood. The eventual Finals MVP testified to the apparent lower-body injury at the time.
Years later, Pierce backtracked with viral comments that he actually needed to relieve himself in the bathroom, but needed an excuse to get off the court in the pivotal matchup.
Now, “The Truth” has a hilarious third version of events that allow NBA fans to relive the moment and reminisce on all of the memes that came of it.
Paul Pierce denies taking a dump in 2008 Finals
Pierce went on “All the Smoke” and retold the infamous wheelchair tale all over again, with a new spin.
He affirmed that he actually injured his knee and didn’t fake it.
Further, Pierce amusingly mapped out how long it would take him to go through the motions on the John. In his own words, that couldn’t have happened in the two minutes in which he was away from the action.

“So yes, it was painful and I was not faking an injury,” Pierce prefaced. “So, if I had to go to the bathroom, or I s*** on myself, you think it would only take two minutes? Come on now.”
“And if I did poop my pants, why would I sit in a wheelchair? All you new generation social media gurus who photoshopped the stain in my pants on Twitter, all you social media wannabees who tried to spread wildfire, don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.”
But Pierce believed that one group, in particular, was responsible for fueling a lot of the jokes and memes over the years.
“I know a lot of y’all just mad that I bust the Lakers’ *ss that year. Pretty much. So I know that’s where it come from. You know, when I’m not your favorite player…and the villain wins. You know? But that’s alright.”
