NBA 2K25 MyTeam will get an overhaul, including the addition of REP and the return of the Auction House after its removal in 2023.

The release of NBA 2K24 was a controversial one, particularly with MyTeam. After fishy MT transactions took place during NBA 2K23’s lifecycle, 2K introduced a player market to buy cards straight from the developer. The change killed third-party trading, but many were frustrated with how 2K controlled the market.

On August 21, 2K released its plans for NBA 2K25 MyTeam. The development team stated it listened to feedback regarding the previous installment.

For this year, things will change for MyTeam in a big way.

Arguably the most notable change to MyTeam for 2K25 is the return of a previous feature: the Auction House. 2K states this will be a ” one-stop shop for searching, buying, and selling” cards, and it will be streamlined. Individuals will be able to search for a specific card directly from the My Auctions menu to look at comparable prices.

As mentioned earlier, the Auction House was removed for NBA 2K24 in lieu of a players’ market, in which individuals could buy cards straight away from the developer. However, community members took issue with inability to buy pack-exclusive cards and the ability to flip.

2K emphasized that transactions will go through a “verification process” and have a zero-tolerance policy on “activity detrimental” to the mode.

REP in NBA 2K252K

As far as new features, REP has been added for NBA 2K25 MyTeam. REP won’t reset throughout the year, and plays can increase this metric through games and challenges. There will be 11 tiers of REP and rewards for moving up will including a G.O.A.T Jayson Tatum for the Dark Matter tier, as well as the Fire Ball.

New game modes will be in MyTeam. Triple Threat Park, a recreation of the 2K16 Rivet City Park, will allow 2K players to meet up and play in what will be the new home for Triple Threat Online.

Breakout in NBA 2K25 MyTeam2K

Then, there’s Breakout. Players will start in the middle of Breakout City and try to get through, while having to take on current and historic NBA teams in Triple Threat 3v3, Clutch Time 5v5, or shortened 13-card Full Lineup games based on their own personal preference. 2K confirmed that standalone Triple Threat and Clutch Time have been retired but will remain in the game via Breakout.

Showdown will replace Unlimted in 2K25. These games will feature 13-card lineups and four-minute quarters. There will be 15 tiers in Showdown, and the goal is to win and get promoted. Individuals on winning streaks will get extra progression through the ladder.

Those who get the required number of Showdown wins will move to the King of the Court event, held every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM PT. Lose three games, and it’s over. On the other hand, the more wins, the more rewards.
