Folk music star Noah Kahan has updated his fans after UMG removed his music from TikTok right before the release of his new song ‘Forever.’
Over the years, a large amount of musicians and artists have found popularity just by sharing their music on TikTok.
Noah Kahan is one of the most recent, having grown to over 35 million monthly listeners through sharing his music on the short-form video app. He’s since signed with Universal Music Group, who announced on January 31, 2024, that they’ll be removing their catalog from TikTok.
On February 1, 2024, Kahan updated fans on his upcoming song release ‘Forever’ which prompted many to flood the comments with support.

“So like you, I’ve read the news about the UMG catalog being taken off TikTok. You know, some of my songs aren’t going to be on there anymore,” he said to start the video.
Noah Kahan went on to explain that he won’t be able to promote his music on the app anymore, either, which is a struggle for him as that’s how he’s always done it.
His new single, Forever, releases on February 9, 2024, and fans were left wondering how they’ll be able to support him leading up to the release. “You’re gonna have to pre-save Forever now,” he explained. “Cause I can’t stick it down your throats anymore.

“I’ll probably be okay, right? I’ll land on my feet… right?” he nervously asked.
In the hours after the video was uploaded, hundreds of fans took to the comments to share their appreciation for Noah and his music.
“You have nothing to worry about Noah. you’re a star,” one user replied.
Another said: “Noah we love you you’ll go far you will be fine.”
“You may have started as a TikTok artist, but you’re so much more. Can’t wait for Forever!” a third fan commented.
Noah Kahan is just one of hundreds of artists signed to UMG that will be affected by the removal of the agency’s catalog on TikTok. However, fans are hopeful that Universal Music Group and TikTok will come to an agreement sooner than later.
