Multiversus is on its way, bringing in some popular characters from DC Comics, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, Scooby-Doo, Steven Universe, and Rick and Morty. Here’s all you need to know about its release.

MultiVersus is a platform fighter that many see as Warner Bros.’s response to the Super Smash Bros. series. It’s a crossover game that unites characters from various Warner Bros. franchises in an exciting roster. Compared to Smash, however, MultiVersus features two-on-two matches and has less single-player content.

The open beta launched in 2022 before the game was taken down so the developers could spend time working on the final release. Now, Warner Bros. has finally confirmed that the game will return in 2024 with some major changes. From characters to stages, here’s everything you need to know about Multiversus’ upcoming launch.

MultiVersus release date, time, & platforms

MultiVersus will be released on May 28, 2024, at 12pm BST, 4.00 am PT, and 7am ET.

It will be available to play for free on PS4, PS5, PC (via the Epic Games Store and Steam), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

On May 20, 2024, Warner Bros. shared a new launch trailer for the game that gives fans a cinematic look at all the characters they’ll be able to play as when MultiVersus launches on May 28, 2024.

What’s changed since the open beta?

The developers have confirmed that the game has switched to Unreal Engine 5 since the open beta to improve the visuals.

MultiVersus has also reworked its entire netcode for a smoother experience, after fans requested the feature, considering that much of the open beta’s content required an Internet connection. Finally, the final version of MultiVersus will have a PvE mode with its own rewards.
