Current UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will square off with undefeated Ilia Topuria in a main event title bout at this weekend’s UFC 298.

However, his children are not letting him forget about his two losses to Islam Makhachev.

Volkanovski holds a sparkling 26-3 overall record in his MMA career. He has victories over some of the best to ever step in the octagon, such as Jose Aldo and Max Holloway.

‘Volk’ has held the featherweight strap since defeating Holloway via unanimous decision at UFC 245. He ripped through the division over the past four years, but one fighter, in particular, still haunts him.

Islam Makhachev, the reigning lightweight champion, has a 2-0 record against Volkanovski in two recent matchups. Granted, both fights came in Makhachev’s weight class, but those mark the only blemishes for Volkanovski in his UFC career.

Volkanovski’s children troll the UFC champ for Islam Makhachev losses

In a light-hearted post released on social media, the MMA star told fans that even his children were trolling him over those previous losses to Makhachev.

In the video, the 35-year-old tells of a moment he had with his kids earlier in the week. He said: “They’re always trying to stay awake at night saying they are scared.

“I asked them, ‘What are you scared of?’.” One replied: “Well, what if someone breaks into the house?” Volk immediately fired back: “Your door is open; I am right there. No one is going to break in.”

She kept asking, “What if they break in this window?” To which Volkanovski said: “Darling, it’s alright. I am right here. I am a world champion. Don’t worry, I’m sure I will sort it out.”

His child then responded with an innocent but hilarious question: “But what if it’s Islam Makhachev?”

Volkanovski burst into laughter after telling his mates about the conversation. “I was like: ‘Wow,’ and I just started laughing.”

For now, Makhachev gets the last laugh, although Volkanovski is finding ways to make light of the situation with some help from his children.

Volk will return to his typical weight class this Saturday to defend the featherweight strap vs. Ilia Topuria at UFC 298. The main card will begin at 10 PM ET, 7 PM Pacific, and 3 AM GMT.
