A brand new enchantment has arrived in Minecraft as part of its 1.21 update, along with a variety of new blocks, mobs, enemies, and tools. However, it can often be a little tricky to understand all Minecraft enchantments as there are so many to sift through.
So, with Breach making an appearance in players’ games thanks to the Trails & Tales update, we’ve highlighted everything you need to know about the enchantment, from what it does, what weapons you can use it with, and some top tips to get hold of the boon for yourself.
What does Breach do in Minecraft?
The Minecraft Breach enchantment reduces the effectiveness of the armor on the enemies you fight.
So, if you hit an enemy wearing armor, your Breach weapon will deal more physical damage to them, negating a chunk of their protection.
As such, the higher the level of enchantment, the more you reduce the armor’s effectiveness, with the max level making the target’s armor 60% less effective.
What weapons can you enchant with Breach?
The Breach enchantment in Minecraft is solely made for the Mace, the new weapon added in the 1.21 update.

The Mace is already an extremely powerful tool to wield, so to enchant it with Breach and take away enemies’ armor is a great idea.
How to get the Breach enchantment in Minecraft
As it goes with most enchantments in Minecraft, they’re relatively random if you try and get them through enchanting tables.
Alternatively, looking through Ominous Vaults and other structures is a great way to increase your chances, as they’re often found in chests. Although, nothing is truly guaranteed.
We recommend grabbing a load of books and your Mace and farming through a few enchantments on the table — Breach is bound to come up eventually. Just make sure you have enough XP for such an endeavor.
To farm XP, you could try heading into the new Trial Chambers, defeating the new Breeze enemy, or just exploring your world. Who knows, you may come across some adorable Armadillos or even get enough Scute to make Wolf Armor.
