Mass-crafting was added to Minecraft thanks to the 1.21 Tricky Trials update which recently hit the game, so here’s all you need to know about the brand-new block called the Crafter and how to use it.
The Crafter is a brand-new block capable of automatically crafting your items. Once you put in the right ingredients in the right order, all you need to do is hook it up to a button or redstone and you’ll have automatic crafting.
Such a design is ideal for those looking to create multiple arrows, weapons, armor, or building blocks while creating their dream house. However, you’ll need to know how to make a Crafter and how to autocraft before digging into Minecraft. So, here’s everything you need to know.
Crafter block requirements in Minecraft
In order to make a Crafter block, players will need to gather the following items:
- Redstone Dust (x2)
- Iron Ingots (x5)
- Dropper (x1)
- Crafting Table (x1)
Redstone Dust is a Mineral players can get from Mining, by crafting Blocks of Redstone, or by smelting Redstone Ore or Deepslate Redstone Ore with any type of fuel.
For those who don’t want to get their hands dirty, they can find it from natural generation around the Jungle Pyramid, the Woodland Mansion, or the Ancient Cities, or as loot from Witches.
Iron Ingots can be found in chests, as mob loot, or can be crafted from Blocks of Iron or Iron Nuggets, as well as by smelting Iron Ore, Deepslate Iron Ore, or Raw Iron with fuel.

Both the Dropper and Crafting Table can be mined with a pickaxe or crafted. For a Dropper you’ll need Cobblestone (x7) and Redstone Dust (x1), while for the Crafting Table, you’ll have to use Planks (x4).
How to make the Crafter block in Minecraft
Once you’ve acquired those materials follow the crafting process:
- Go to your Crafting Table and right-click on it to get it open.
- Place one piece of Redstone Dust on each bottom corner.
- Put the Dropper between the Redstone Dust.
- Set the other Crafting Table on top of the Dropper.
- Fill the rest of the spaces with the Iron Ingots.

How to auto-craft in Minecraft
To auto-craft in Minecraft, you’ll first need to work out how often you want something to be made. If it’s just one, then all you need to do is fill the Crafter with the right recipe, stick a button or lever on the side of the Crafter, and click/pull it. Then, whenever you want the resource again, click the button.
Alternatively, you could use Redstone repeaters to make the Crafter drop multiple items in continuation.
It’s worth experimenting with Redstone and the Crafter and seeing what you come up with. No doubt many experts will be creating new designs and ways players can capitalize on this block.
