MTG Secret Lair: Shades Not Included
Lands are one of the most integral parts of any MTG deck, and Secret Lair: Shades Not Included comes packed with some of the best-looking lands ever released for Magic.
Synthwave is more popular than ever thanks to the continuing boom of 80s nostalgia, and these lands recreate that aesthetic perfectly. Players will be hard-pressed to find a simpler yet more striking style for their mana base. Any deck will receive a direct infusion of style thanks to these lands.

MTG Secret Lair: Phyrexian Faves
Despite their menacing appearance, corrupting influence, and the untold damage they have dealt to MTG’s multiverse, the Phyrexians remain one of Magic’s most iconic factions. The monstrosities of Phyrexia have returned in several forms over MTG’s lifespan, most recently posing as the Big Bads of the Phyrexian War arc.
Phyrexian Faves packages together several powerful Phyrexian cards, including the excellent K’rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, and Blighted Agent. What’s more, these cards are set apart by being translated into the Phyrexian language. While this does admittedly make them less than ideal for players who don’t have their effects memorized, the stylish appearance is perfect for displaying in a collection.

MTG Secret Lair: If Looks Could Kill
Secret Lair often allows MTG designers to branch off in bold new directions, taking artistic risks that wouldn’t necessarily fit in a main set’s theme and aesthetic. That’s certainly the case with Secret Lair: If Looks Could Kill.
This MTG Secret Lair presents classic characters in a whole new light. By drawing on modern and high fashion, If Looks Could Kill reinterprets MTG figures like Lilana and Azami in fascinating new ways.
As one of the most daring and unique Secret Lairs available, If Looks Could Kill is a great purchase for any collector focused on MTG’s art and design. Hopefully future Secret Lairs will be as daring as this one.

MTG Secret Lair: More Borderless Planeswalkers
While many Secret Lairs are better suited to decoration than practical play, More Borderless Planeswalkers pulls double duty. This Secret Lair set contains four useful Planeswalker cards, ready to be slotted into a variety of MTG decks.
The Planeswalkers included are some of MTG’s most ancient and powerful figures, including Nicol Bolas and Ugin the twin dragons, Soren Markov the Vampire lord of Innistrad, and Sarkhan Vol the time-traveler. Their powerful effects allow these Planeswalkers to live up to their impressive reputation.
Additionally, these Planeswalkers are rendered in an eye-catching borderless manga style, setting them apart from their standard depictions.

MTG Secret Lair: Monster Anatomy 101 (Foil Etched)
MTG features whole planes full of fascinating and mythical monsters. From toiling goblins through to majestic dinosaurs, Magic’s monster designs are truly one of the game’s highlights.
Monster Anatomy 101 spotlights these monsters but in an offbeat and unique way. In providing an up-close look at their inner working and anatomy, this Secret Lair presents itself almost as a scientific manual. The Foil Etched variant of this Secret Lair adds another level of pizzazz to this set’s already excellent presentation
Many fantasy fans can find themselves caught up in worldbuilding and monster design, and this Secret Lair is perfect for them. For any player who enjoys Monster Hunter or prefers their fantasy with a side of practicality, this MTG release is a perfect fit. These up-close studies are anything but dull, and can be played or displayed with ease.

Changes to MTG Secret Lair
While Secret Lairs have been reliably enjoyed by MTG players and collectors since the line launched in 2020, a recent change to their printing is making it difficult to recommend new Secret Lairs at present.
In switching from their previous print-to-demand model to limited-run instead, Wizards of the Coast risks turning players away from Secret Lair altogether. While this new model may cut down on shipping wait times, it also leads to an increase in scalping and products like Commander Deck: Raining Cats and Dogs selling out before many players are even aware of their availability.
At least for the time being, it’s worth looking back on MTG’s back catalog of Secret Lairs, rather than getting caught up on the mad dash for new releases.
