Madden 25 has been confirmed to be released in summer 2024, and some upgrades will reportedly be made to the next franchise installment. Here’s what we know about the simulation football franchise to this point.
Amidst all the release information hype of EA Sports College Football 25, Electronic Arts also released the first info for the latest installment of Madden in May 2024.
And yes, Madden will be called Madden 25 this year, even though a game with the same title was released in 2013 to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
Although an official trailer for the game has yet to be released, a release date for the latest installment of the Madden franchise, among other details, is known.
When will Madden 25 be released?
Madden 25 will be released worldwide on August 16, 2024. Beginning on August 13, those who purchase either a special edition or the MVP Bundle for EA Sports College Football 25 will have three days of early access.
The release date for this game was originally confirmed in May when the publisher released details for College Football 25.
Who is the cover athlete?
49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will be the cover athlete for the standard and deluxe editions of Madden 25. This was confirmed on June 11, 2024.
New features
With Madden now available for digital pre-orders, product information has given players a glimpse of what EA Sports plans for this year’s game.
Madden reportedly will have a re-engineered physics system and updated features for Franchise mode. Additionally, promotional information promises new commentary and presentation.
Gameplay
On June 14, EA Sports expounded on some of these concepts. Madden 25 will feature BoomTech, FieldSense upgrades which include a timing-based mechanic for the hit stick to provide more control determined by your angle of impact, stick skill, and accuracy for cut sticks, big hits, and trucks, physics-based tackling, and a new ball carrier system.
On July 23, the developers went over some of the new gameplay changes coming to Madden 25. Among the tweaks include new abilities, hit stick changes that will affect the power based upon the attack angle and timing, and more athleticism and awareness for ball carriers.
Superstar and Franchise Mode
Additionally, new archetypes and customization options are back for Superstar Mode and Franchise Mode includes a changed NFL Draft setup that included league commissioner Roger Goodell and new storylines through Franchise Central.
And on during the week of July 29, the Madden team unveiled player ratings and more changes coming to Franchise Mode.

New announcers
Madden 25 will feature two new announce teams. NBC play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico will join Fox analyst and former NFL tight end Greg Olson as part of one team. The second will feature 76ers play-by-play announcer Kate Scott alongside Fox college football analyst Brock Huard.
These teams will join the existing duo of Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis.
Will it available for old-gen consoles?
Yes, according to digital pre-order information, old-gen versions of the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are available.
Will it be available for Nintendo Switch?
No, a Nintendo Switch version of Madden 25 was not announced.
When were player ratings announced?
EA stated Madden 25 player ratings confirmed in July player ratings would be unveiled during the week of July 29.

EA Sports unveiled the top-ten lists for each position, and Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey, and Travis Kelce all reigned supreme in their specific category. Additionally, all three are a part of the ’99 Club.’
MUT Core Elite ratings will be announced during the week of August 5.
How to get started early for Madden 25
We should note that prospective Madden 25 players can jumpstart their progress in game through a number of avenues.
For MUT, there’s a special Welcome Pack for all players in Madden 24, one that includes a 99 OVR Puka Nacua. This card will carry over as a HERO card in Madden 25, but at a lower overall.
Second, Rookie Premiere sets are in Madden 24. However, only three Rookie Premieres will carry over to 25, a change from past games.
Lastly, be mindful that those interested in College Football 25 will be able to transfer Road to Glory progress in Madden 25, continuing the journey.
