We are just a few days away from the start of the NFL preseason — and the yearly release of EA Sports’ Madden NFL franchise.
Madden NFL 24 is set to take the football franchise to the next-generation in a number of different ways, thanks to receive new gameplay upgrades and modes.
With all of that said, let’s take a look at what we know about Madden NFL 24.
Does Madden 24 have a release date?
Yes, Madden 24 will be released worldwide on August 18. Those who either order the special edition of Madden or are a subscriber to EA Play will be able to play the game beginning on August 15.
Who is Madden 24’s cover star?
Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen is the cover athlete of Madden 24. This was confirmed by EA in its release announcement on June 7.
What platforms will Madden 24 launch on?
Madden NFL 24 will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This game will also mark the first time in the history of the series that Madden will have next-gen features in the PC edition and the first instance that crossplay will be included.
What new features will be in Madden 24?
Aside from crossplay functionality, EA Sports has promised several new game modes and gameplay tweaks for Madden.
Madden NFL 24 will feature the return of Superstar mode, a prominent mode from the mid-2000s that allowed players to gain the full experience of a NFL superstar. Individuals will be able to create a custom player, work through the NFL Combine, get drafted, and then progress on the field in order to become an all-time great.
Superstar will be joined by Superstar Showdown, a 3v3 online mode. Both will only be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions.
Franchise mode will include new mini-games, added relocation options, and modified free agent and contract options that will include contract restructuring.
As far as gameplay is concerned, EA gave football fans an extended look at it on August 2, 2023 on the official Madden YouTube channel.

Madden will feature dive throws, no-look pass animations, upgrades to run blocking, and a revamped catching system designed to reduce the frequency of missed catches and improve players’ ability to maintain speed and momentum when catching a ball.
Additionally, the team made other tweaks, like modifications to presses to make the game more realistic, and changes to meta high pass to increase the likelihood of an incomplete pass in certain situations. For example, a high pass has a higher chance of being an incomplete if the receiver needs to contort in a strange way.
The Madden team noted that this year’s game will feature SAPIEN technology, as the skeletons of players have been built from the ground up. This change, per EA, will ensure that player models move fluidly and in turn, will upgrade existing animations and enhance the gameplay.
As for MUT, EA Sports has tweaked how it will work the Competitive Pass and its rewards and MUT Champions will no longer require Tokens for entry.
Did EA Sports confirm the Madden 24 soundtrack?
Yes, EA Sports released the official soundtrack for Madden 24 on August 4.
The soundtrack will include over 30 songs and feature well-known artists like Jack Harlow and Marshmello.
Are Madden 24 player and team ratings known?
Yes, EA Sports released player and team rating information on the week of July 17.
Throughout that week, the Madden 24 team unveiled the best players at each position, as well as the individuals that will be start the year as members of the ‘99 Club.’ Additionally, EA Sports released overall ratings for the best offenses and defenses.
And for MUT players, the developers have released the best Core Elites that will be in this year’s title.
