Awesome card concept would bring pirates to Legends of Runeterra

A Legends of Runeterra fan has created an amazing pirate set concept, complete with new characters, abilities, and amazing art.

Legends of Runeterra is an all-new League of Legends themed digital collectible card game, which was announced on October 15, along with other projects by Riot Games.

Much like Blizzard’s Hearthstone is an extension of World of Warcraft, the game pits League of Legends champions and lore characters against each other on a card game board, with every card having a cost, attack points, health points, and unique abilities or effects.

League fans instantly fell in love with the game after a short preview and playtest during the game’s 10th-anniversary celebrations in October and are eagerly awaiting the next testing period, which runs from November 14-19.

With the servers down until then players simply had to wait and take in whatever Runeterra content they could find, for some, however, that wasn’t enough and Reddit user Aradia_Bot created their own pirate-themed set for the game.

Iconic champions like Gangplank, Miss Fortune, and Twisted Fate highlight the set with unique abilities like Twisted Fate’s Wild Cards giving more depth and tactical options to players.

Of course, the set also features a variety of new pirates, from lowly rascals and gamblers to captains of ships and terrifying sea creatures. There’s just about everything you could imagine in a pirate theme and more.

Finally, the set also adds a new mechanic – reckless. In short, reckless units always have to attack or block, and some pirates are reckless, while others can make their opponents reckless, adding even more tactical depth to the game.

While this pirate set borrows a lot of art from other card games, it is still incredibly creative and it’s easy to see how this theme could fit into Legends of Runeterra.
