How to watch Fnatic vs Cloud9 LoL World’s Semi-Final

History is being made at the 2018 League of Legends World Championship as Europe takes on North America in the semi-finals.

After an intense group stage in which three groups ended with tie-breakers and every team suffered at least one loss, many were already calling it the most entertaining Worlds to date.

If anything, the playoffs so far have been even more insane. The quarter-finals saw the lower-seeded team upset in three out of the four matches, resulting in tournament favorites KT Rolster and Royal Never Give Up going home early.

Invictus Gaming and G2 Esports – the teams responsible for the demise of KT and RNG respectively – clashed in the first semi-final, with IG taking it with a clean sweep 3-0.

Meanwhile, at least one Western team is guaranteed to reach the final, with Fnatic and Cloud9 meeting in the other semi-final after defeating EDward Gaming and Afreeca Freecs.

In the quarter-finals, Cloud9’s victory over Afreeca Freecs marked several major milestones. With KT Rolster having fallen to Invictus Gaming, Afreeca’s loss meant the worst placement for South Korea since they first competed at Worlds. It also means that for the first time since 2013, the World Champions will not be a South Korean team.

For Cloud9, on the other hand victory meant achieving the best placement by a North American team since the Season One Championship in 2011. Either they or Fnatic will also be the first Western team in a final since the same event.
