One of the most useful combat potions in the game is the Focus Potion, which requires Fluxweed Stems in order to be brewed. As this ingredient can be quite hard to find, here’s all you need to know to get plenty of it fast.
Where to get Fluxweed Stems
There are two main ways students can get their hands on Fluxweed Stems in Hogwarts Legacy. The first—and more straightforward way—to obtain this ingredient is by simply purchasing it at The Magic Neep store in Hogsmeade.
Players can find The Magic Neep on the west side of Hogsmead past J. Pippin’s Potions. Here, students can purchase a Fluxweed Stem for 150 Galleons, along with a few other helpful items.
The other way to obtain Fluxweed Stems is by growing them yourself. However, to grow this resource, students must first unlock the Room of Requirement.
How to harvest Fluxweed Stems
Even though players are allowed to use their assigned pot bench in the Herbology classroom to sow their plants, the Fluxweed Stem requires special conditions to grow, so players must use the Room of Requirement.
After unlocking the Room of Requirement, follow these steps to grow your own Fluxweed Stems to save money:

- Go inside the Room of Requirement.
- Press the RT button to use the Conjuration spell.
- Go into the Herbology menu.
- Pick any large potting table and place it wherever you like.
- With that set, go up to the furniture and interact with it.
- Out of all the seeds available, choose the Fluxweed Seeds.
- Wait for 15 in-game minutes. To speed up the process, you can add fertilizer by interacting with the plater once the seeds are inside it.
- Collect the Fluxweed Stem plant once it grows.
Players can purchase different large pots from the Tomes and Scrolls store in Hogsmeade and the Fluxweed Seeds can be obtained in The Magic Neep for 350 Galleons.
Even though the seeds cost more than the already grown plant, they will start growing again whenever you harvest them, so you can keep collecting more.
What does Fluxweed Stem do?
Players will need Fluxweed for two key Professor assignments in the game. Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 tasks players with brewing a Focus Potion, while Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2 asks players to grow Fluxweed Stem for themselves. Completing these quests will give the spells Depulso and Flippendo, respectively.
Additionally, the Fluxweed Stem can be used to brew two very important potions in Hogwarts Legacy, which will help immensely in combat and exploration.
First, there’s the Focus Potion, which reduces the drinker’s spell cooldown, allowing them to cast incantations faster. This is arguably one of the most helpful potions in the game, especially if players are using the Unforgivable Curses in their playthrough.
