Hogwarts Legacy‘s most recent update brought up the topic of DLC rumors surrounding the action RPG, so here’s whether fans can expect to return to Avalanche Software’s wizarding world anytime soon.
Avalanche Software provided Potter fans with what they’d always wanted with Hogwarts Legacy: the chance to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and carve out their own adventure in the beloved wizarding world.
Packed full of magical creatures to find, spells to master, and a lot of iconic locations to explore, the game has a lot of great content to pour over — but that hasn’t stopped fans wondering about potential DLC for it.
Will Hogwarts Legacy have DLC?
No, there are currently no plans for any Hogwarts Legacy DLC. This news was announced at IGN Fan Fest in 2023, where Hogwarts Legacy game director Alan Tew gave the following statement:
“We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life, so at the moment there are no current plans for DLC.”
However, there could be a glimmer of hope, as via a report shared on Insider Gaming, it was stated that “a Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition is in development”. According to this exclusive from Tom Henderson, the edition could include over 10 hours of content, featuring “a new story quest, side quests, activities, and outfits.’
What could the future of Hogwarts Legacy look like?
One of the main points of contention among fans is that Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t feature Quidditch. While Witches and Wizards can fly around on a broomstick, they can’t take part in the popular sport.

A future Hogwarts Legacy DLC or even a sequel could add the fan-favorite sport to the game, which would make for some great side content outside of dungeon crawling and overworld exploration. One leaker even notes how Hogwarts Legacy’s map size was cut by nearly a quarter, with the Highlands and Swamp being removed.
The leaker revealed that both these locations could be potentially added as part of the game’s expansion or a continuation. Of course, like all leaks and rumors, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.
However, we’ve recently seen the arrival of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, a standalone game that lets you dive into fan-favorite locations and interact with characters from the franchise out on the pitch.
Additionally, the game received a free update in June 2024. However, it was known that the content was intended as a token of appreciation from the studio to thank the players for the amazing reception of the game, and not a full DLC.
The Hogwarts Legacy update included a new photo mode, skins for the game’s mounts, more cosmetics, as well as the Haunted Hogsmeade quest which was only available to PlayStation users.
