Helldivers 2 players were trying to figure out why they were dying so often after the 01.000.100 update, but they’ve figured out that spawn rates may have drastically increased across the board for enemy units.
Helldivers 2‘s higher difficulties aren’t for the faint of heart. Once you get up to Helldive, you’ll have to pull out all the stops and run only the most effective equipment and builds to have even a chance at surviving.
However, those who were braving the highest difficulties have noticed it’s even more difficult than it used to be after the most recent patch, among other issues like the Mechs being a bit underpowered.
After an overwhelming amount of reports from players, it’s beyond reasonable doubt that the enemy spawn rates have been increased. That said, it isn’t clear whether this was on purpose or done by complete accident.
Helldivers 2 players discover enemy spawn rates have spiked
Those who were clearing missions on the highest difficulties were shocked by just how much harder Helldive is after the most recent Helldivers 2 patch.
However, this doesn’t seem to just be isolated to any one difficulty, or even to Terminids or Automatons. Enemy spawns have drastically increased for all players across the board.
Many players have been left frustrated by not understanding what may have changed here, seeing as the devs didn’t mention anything about it in the patch notes.

“Through my experience, I have concluded that in this new patch, dev has left out the most important part of the patch which is enemy AI and spawn rate. And I honestly believe that the massive post explaining their reasoning about the buff and nerf is missing the point. The biggest effect of the patch is not the weapon but no matter what weapon strategem you use, you won’t be able to clear the enemy in front of you,” the Redditor claimed.
Others in the thread claimed they had similar experiences to these two players, with them being unable to even finish missions in difficulties they dominated the patch before.
“Yep, I’ve been seeing all this,” a Redditor commented. “It’s not even patrols or holes opening, it’s just groups materializing out of thin air and rushing you over and over and over. Plus the divisions between difficulties no longer seem to govern the kinds of enemies that spawn. I had a pack of Chargers spawn earlier on difficulty 3 – on Medium. Armored heavies aren’t even supposed to appear on Medium except a single scripted one as main mission targets.
“The worst part is that they make so many stealth changes and undocumented alterations that we can never know if something’s broken or intended.”
Helldivers 2’s devs have yet to address this issue, nor have they said anything as to whether or not the drastic difficulty spike most players seem to be experiencing is intentional.
