A new rumor has sparked about a possible announcement from Microsoft at E3 relating to a new Halo title, supposedly named ‘Infinity’.
News on the upcoming installment in the Halo series has been relatively sparse, but with Xbox always hosting a major conference each year, Halo fans have been getting their hopes up.
Microsoft has already stated it will be at E3 2018 “in a big way”, but it wasn’t predicted that Halo 6 would be part of these plans.
And according to this new leak, it sounds like Halo 6 may in fact NOT be the next title in the series, but rather ‘Halo Infinity’.
The leak comes from Brad Sams, editor of Thurrott.com, a site known for reliable insider knowledge on all things Microsoft and Xbox, claims that sources have told him Halo Infinity will be announced at E3.
He calls this “the word on the street”, and that it could well change, perhaps with ‘Infinity’ being a cover up or working title until the official announcement.

If this is indeed the title of the next game, it is possible that this will be an entry separate to the main series lineage.
And the term ‘Infinity’ is not a new one in the Halo series, with it the name of the UNSC ship featured prominently in the story mode of Halo 4 and 5, and is also the name of location for multiplayer modes.
This has led some to speculate that that this could be a multiplayer only release, with Infinity referring to a game that is continually updated and added to over its lifespan.
Fans will have to wait until the Xbox Media Briefing at E3 on June 10th to see if these leaks and rumors are accurate.
