Netflix Games is expanding its gaming portfolio, with GTA joining the service. Here’s what you need to know about playing GTA 3, Vice City & San Andreas on Netflix.
In recent years, Netflix has been gearing up to expand outside of shows and movies as the service looks towards gaming. In a surprise announcement, it was revealed Grand Theft Auto would come to Netflix in some capacity. The streaming service went on to announce GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition will join its platform
GTA fans will gain access to three GTA titles — GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas — in their updated glory.
If you’re one of the many looking to give these a go through Netflix, here’s what you need to know.
How to play GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on Netflix
GTA joining Netflix is via mobile only. To play them, you must have a mobile device or tablet, and you also need to be a Netflix subscriber.

Provided you fall into both categories:
- Open up the Netflix app, and in the top right corner, hit the search icon.
- From there, the first thing you’ll see is “Recommended Mobile Games,” which Netflix will show the GTA games.
- Click on the game, and it’ll download the title right to your device, as well as throw a home screen shortcut for you to open the games up.
Conveniently enough, you can download each title separately instead of installing the whole Definitive Edition. You can also search for them in the App Store or Google Play directly, and install them, instead of going through the Netflix app.
As previously mentioned, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition gives players three GTA games, GTA 3, Vice, and San Andreas, in their definitive forms. This includes updated graphics and performance, improved controls, and reworked HUD design. Reception has been very positive to date, so it might be a good idea to give it a go if you haven’t.
