GTA San Andreas coming to Oculus Quest VRRockstar Games

Rockstar’s classic open-world franchise will make its official virtual reality debut with GTA San Andreas coming to Oculus Quest.

Announced at the showcase event Games To Connect, the Oculus team has revealed that the company has been collaborating with Rockstar Games to bring Grand Theft Auto San Andreas to the Oculus Quest 2.

This partnership reinforces the commitment to older games that Rockstar has displayed by porting their older titles to new consoles, as well as the release of the new GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

GTA San Andreas coming to VR through Oculus Quest 2

The statement made at Connect 2021 indicates that the Facebook-adjacent Oculus team and Rockstar Games have been working on this for quite some time.

“Today at Connect, we announced that the Rockstar Games classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is in development for Quest 2. Get a new perspective on Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas as you experience (again or for the first time) one of gaming’s most iconic open worlds. This is a project many years in the making, and we can’t wait to show you more of it.”

Seems to be a GTA storm brewing for Rockstar Games.

Things are moving fast for Rockstar these days, as this announcement coincides with some interesting comments from Snoop Dogg about an upcoming Grand Theft Auto game and Dr. Dre’s involvement with the soundtrack.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about his frequent collaborator’s new music, Snoop seemed to think that it was tied directly to the studio’s next game: “So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game”

Whether these comments are tied to GTA 6 or to an updated soundtrack for the California-inspired San Andreas remains to be seen.
