The Genshin Impact Switch release date remains a mystery, and Nintendo fans are losing hope that it will ever come to the portable system.

The Genshin Impact Switch reveal was originally announced way back in 2020, and since then, fans have been patiently waiting for its release. HoYoverse’s free to play anime game has proven popular on PC, mobile, and PlayStation consoles – achieving 2 billion in revenue during the game’s 1st Anniversary Event.

However, with the game now celebrating its fourth year, many Nintendo fans have begun to lose hope in a Genshin Impact Switch release date ever being announced.

Nintendo fans lose hope over Genshin Impact Switch release date

“At this point you might as well snap a controller on your phone and pretend it’s a Switch,” joked one player. “A switch runs on a 5-year-old mobile processor after all. The experience would be miles better. I don’t really see a need for an actual Switch version for Genshin”

While many Genshin Impact fans were keen to point out the Switch’s aging hardware, and the limitations that could hamper the experience – it’s clear that Nintendo fans still want what HoYo had originally promised.

“People will go on and on about the Nintendo Switch’s hardware as if MiHoyo had no idea what they were gonna be working with,” replied another commenter. “It may be released on Nintendo’s next Switch-like console, but like, why announce it for the Switch if there’s gonna be no follow-up?”

While HoYoverse has been radio silent on the issue, they did provide an update earlier last year. During an interview with GoNintendo, the developers gave the following statement:

“The Switch version is still in development, and we will release more information as we progress further along.”

It’s because of this statement and the lengthy wait, that many Nintendo fans now believe the HoYoverse will release Genshin Impact on Nintendo’s next platform release. “At this point, they are probably waiting for Switch 2 for a better showing due to improved performance” noted one commenter

“I don’t think they want to run/look worse than BOTW, which is very optimized for switch hardware so it will be hard to match.”
