Players are demanding changes from Blizzard to World of Warcraft’s Heroic-level Dungeons, which see incredibly low levels of participation and seem “pointless” to many.
Heroic Mode Dungeons are on a lockout timer much like raids, and can only be run by one character per day. As the name suggests they’re more difficult than regular dungeons, but with the tradeoff of offering more powerful gear as a reward. At least, that’s how they started out.
In the current state of WoW, more powerful gear can be obtained through quest lines and the much more popular Mythic difficulty.
Now, players are criticizing Heroic for no longer being a viable option.
WoW Heroic Dungeons slammed as “pointless”
In a Reddit post on June 27, user UnluckyChemist2162 wondered why Heroic difficulty was even a thing in Shadowlands, due to long wait times and seemingly very few players participating.
“On my lvl 215 hunter tried to queue for a heroic got quoted at 49 minute wait, which is insane,” they explained. “The rewards aren’t that much higher than dungeons. No bonus mogs or anything like that… What’s the point of Heroics anymore if no one does them?”

Another player named Dr_Ducky_1 pointed out that there doesn’t seem to be any point to doing Heroic after about the first few weeks of an expansion in the current WoW build.
“It’s standard WOW to me,” they replied. “Heroics haven’t kept up as a viable gearing method in late patches since legion, if not before.”
So, what should Blizzard do to fix Heroic difficulty? Simply put: give players better loot for going through with it.
“Imo heroic should be better gear than world drops as a minimum (not necessarily much) and should be at a level where fully equipped with heroic is enough to attempt (and succeed) a normal raid’s early bosses,” Dr_Ducky_1 continued. “The current and recent raid tiers have felt heavily reliant on people being m+ geared (often to the point that the raid drops become redundant).”
Heroic difficulty seems to be another thing that, for one reason or another, has been left behind by Blizzard. Dragonflight gives devs the perfect opportunity to go in and make it worthwhile again, but whether they will or not remains to be seen.
