Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to revive characters in different ways. Talking to a Hooded Skeleton called Whithers is one of the ways you can revive characters and even respec characters if you’re not satisfied with your current build.
That being said, it is quite a hassle to find Withers as he’s located in a secret room. So, here is how you can find Withers the Hooded Skeleton in the game and use him for various advantages.
Where is the Hooded Skeleton found?
The Hooded Skeleton is originally found in a secret room in the Dank Crypt. Here’s how you can find this room:

- After you wake up on the beach during the first act of the game, you can find a set of double doors next to the Overgrown Ruins waypoint as indicated on the map above.
- Enter the doors by either lockpicking or by scaling the top of the cliff to reach an alternative entrance.
- Once inside the Dark Crypt, you’ll find an ornate sarcophagus. Open it to talk to Withers,
- After some brief dialogue, Withers will head back to your camp.
- You can then go to the camp and respec or revive a character by interacting with Withers.
How does the Hooded Skeleton revive a character?
After you encounter him the first time, there’s nothing else to do with him here. He’ll leave you alone and you’ll be able to exit the Dank Crypt. The next time you’ll see him is at the camp. If you interact with him, he’ll tell you that he can revive one of your dead characters for 200 gold.
If you have enough, it’s highly recommended that you take advantage of that offer, even if you have a Scroll of Revivify. Not having to use that item if you don’t have to is a pretty nice deal.
How does the Hooded Skeleton respec a character?
To respec your character, all you have to do is approach the Hooded Skeleton at the camp and choose the option to respec your character for 100 Gold.
