The brand new medieval multiplayer slasher game has been surging in popularity on Twitch since its April 29 launch. The nature of the game leaves players relying on their skills in close quarter combat to survive, battling in some exciting castle sieges and cavalry charges.

TriternionThere are a number of exciting game modes to be played in Mordhau, but you’re going to have to get to grips with sword action quickly.

In terms of what you can expect from playing it, there is the option to jump into battle royale games of up to 64 people at a time, or perhaps even opt for its Frontline game mode instead, which has many points on the map which are just as important for players to capture than picking up eliminations.

The full list of Mordhau’s game modes can be found below, as well as a quick gameplay trailer.

  • Deathmatch: Classic team deathmatch or free-for-all mode.
  • Battle Royale: Up to 64 players jumping into a classic battle royale scenario.
  • Frontline: Similar to Battlefield’s Conquest, players must capture key points on the map while battling to succeed.
  • Horde: Fighting against waves of AI characters to survive. Co-operation with other players is key.
  • Skirmish: Broken up into several rounds, players have one life per round and the team with the most wins are the champions.

Summit1g and shroud streaming Mordhau

As we mentioned earlier, Summit1g and shroud have already given the game a shot during their Twitch livestreams. It’s fair to say, though, that neither of the high profile internet personalities looked entirely comfortable with the style of battle required to succeed in this battlefield.

While Summit was wrecked by the most unlikely weapon in Mordhau on May 3, as he was hilariously taken out with a player using a guitar, that didn’t stop the streamer from getting into the zone a couple of times while playing it.

Shroud, on the other hand, is known to be a master when it comes to aiming and precision. Yet, even he couldn’t do anything as he was embarrassed by an unarmed enemy in Mordhau – just moments after complaining about balance issues in the game.

However, he did show some epic battle gameplay during his May 6 stream, as seen below.

Whether or not the game will continue to be tried and tested by high profile streamers remains to be seen, but it certainly looks like a challenge. The game modes are vast, there seems to be something for everybody, and it has received rave reviews so far. But, are you up for the challenge?
