Players must not only stay alive but also defeat legendary DC heroes as the stakes couldn’t be higher. Every hero has their weaknesses, and this mission, which essentially involves wiping out metahumans, may appear insurmountable.
Kryptonite is the weakness of the most powerful superhero, Superman. Therefore, to defeat him, the team needs to get some. Nevertheless, players are presented with a Gold Kryptonite rather than a green one, leaving fans perplexed about its true purpose.

What does Gold Kryptonite do in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Players take on the role of members of the Suicide Squad, which includes Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark. According to the Green Lantern, Brainiac’s attack on Metropolis is only the start of his intentions to terraform Earth.
Throughout the game, Suicide Squad partners up with supervillains from DC’s rogues gallery, such as Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Lex Luthor. The gang defeats The Flash just before the Green Lantern transports all four members to a parallel dimension known as Earth-2, as opposed to their own, Earth-1.

The members soon encounter Lex Luthor of Earth-2, who informs them that Brainiac has already terraformed his universe, and he is the sole surviving individual who has been sending communications to Luthor of Earth-1 to avert the invasion. However, when he learns of his death, he aids the Suicide Squad to transport him back to Earth-1.
Shortly later, Wonder Woman is forced to stab a brainwashed Superman with green Kryptonite, which has no impact on the hero. Instead, he kills her before fleeing. As a result, Luthor-2 speculates that Brainiac modified Superman’s DNA to make it more immune to Kryptonite, and proposes capturing Batman so he can design a countermeasure.
They corner Batman in one of his hideouts and kidnap him, bringing him to Lex Luthor, who develops Gold Kryptonite to defeat Superman. With no more purpose left for Batman, Harley murders him to lure Superman, allowing the Suicide Squad to eliminate him with their Gold Kryptonite-powered weaponry.
The squad also attaches the same crystals to avoid any close combat attacks from Superman. While Gold Kryptonite is utilized in the comics to reverse the effects of Green Kryptonite, it is extremely useful in the game to overpower Brainiac’s mutated DNA on Superman.
