Top FPS and battle royale streamers Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek, Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik, and Timothy ‘iiTzTimmy’ An have joined a $30m investing round in Mountaintop Studios, a development studio with former devs from the likes of Riot Games, Respawn, Epic Games, Blizzard, and more.
Announced on January 31, Mountaintop Studios has officially raised a further $30m of funding, with a number of top FPS streamers and content creators joining musicians and athletes, as they continue work on what they call a “genre-defining” tactical shooter.
Twitch streamers Sacriel and CohhCarnage are also part of the funding round, as are LA Clippers’ Paul George and international DJ Zedd, rounding out what is a fairly star-studded set of investors in the studios’ early stages.
With this announcement, Mountaintop have shared their debut game as a studio, an as-yet-unnamed tactical shooter that has been in development for over 3 years, since the studio launched in 2020.
Just from the available screenshots, the game looks visually similar to the likes of Overwatch and Valorant in its vibrant colors and map aesthetics, though we’re still some way off telling how exactly it plays.

Shroud has spoken here and there about a survival FPS that he’s been working on codenamed ‘Project Astrid,’ though these two titles don’t appear to be the same, as they are being developed by separate studios.
Zack Zaharis from Anthos Capital led the funding round, while RX3 Growth Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Abstract, vgames, BoxGroup, and Spark Capital also participated in the round.
No release date has been provided for this upcoming game, though given this announcement, we could expect to see movement in the coming months.
