The Payday series is famous for its elaborate, cinematic heists. Whether it’s burning through a giant bank vault or hijacking a plane full of money, there’s something for everyone and Payday 3 has been no different.
For Payday 3, Starbreeze Studios brought back that movie-like magic for the themes of its heists. So, here’s every heist available in the game, the order you can play them in, and how to beat each one in stealth.
How many heists are there in Payday 3?
There are a total of 14 heists currently in the game, with all of them being set in New York City. This includes 8 core heists, three side hustles, and four heists in The Bad Apple DLC campaign.
As Starbreeze did with Payday 2, more heists were added over time to the game. It’s almost a certainty that the developer will do the same for Payday 3 moving forward throughout the years.
All core heists
Core heists in Payday 3 have a set sequence in the story mode in which they appear, however you are also free to play them in any order you wish. This means you could play the final mission if you were so inclined. These heists are also bridged with a few cinematics that tell the story.

- No Rest for the Wicked
- Road Rage
- Road Rage is a loud-only heist
- Dirty Ice
- Rock the Cradle
- Under the Surphaze
- Gold & Sharke
- 99 Boxes
- Touch the Sky
All Side Hustle heists
Beginning with the 1.0.2 update released in November 2023, Starbreeze has also added Side Hustles to the game. Originally known as Legacy Heists, Side Hustles are smaller-scale heists that don’t fit the lore of the game. Therefore, you can complete these heists in any order you like.

Some of them are remastered stages from Payday 2, with altered mechanics and objectives to fit with Payday 3’s gameplay. These are narrated by Locke, who is a returning character from Payday 2.
There are currently three Side Hustles available:
- Turbid Station
- Cook Off
- Cook Off is a loud-only heist
- Diamond District
All The Bad Apple heists
As of December 2023, Starbreeze has started releasing new heists as paid DLC across its Year 1 content. The first year of DLC is titled The Bad Apple, featuring four heists released between Winter 2023 and Fall 2024.
The Bad Apple continues the story from the end of Touch The Sky, so be sure to finish each Core heist first if you don’t want spoilers.
There are four heists in The Bad Apple campaign, with only one released so far:
- Syntax Error (released December 12th, 2023)
- Boys in Blue (released June 27th, 2024)
- Houston Breakout (released August 19th, 2024)
- Fear and Greed (released September 16th, 2024)
